Full Job Description
Overview

DecisionPoint seeks an Integration Engineer (Middleware Specialist) to design, build, and manage middleware components, transformation logic, and event-driven workflows that enable secure, scalable, and reliable system-to-system integrations across a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role supports enterprise interoperability and data exchange by architecting integration pipelines, message flows, and middleware logic aligned with both mission and security requirements.

The Integration Engineer works closely with API developers, backend engineers, cloud teams, and cybersecurity personnel to build integration layers that meet enterprise performance, resiliency, and Zero Trust–aligned security standards.

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Integration Engineer (Middleware Specialist) will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain middleware services, integration workflows, and transformation logic.
  • Support event-driven architectures, including queues, pub/sub messaging, and asynchronous data pipelines.
  • Implement system-to-system orchestration using integration tools, middleware, and workflow engines.
  • Build secure and reliable transformations between disparate data formats, schemas, and payload structures.
  • Integrate applications using APIs, message brokers, and cloud-native integration services.
  • Troubleshoot middleware issues, message delivery failures, and integration performance problems.
  • Develop mapping specifications, metadata models, and integration documentation.
  • Ensure alignment with DoD cybersecurity policies, secure coding expectations, and Zero Trust data principles.
  • Support integration testing, message validation, and workflow debugging.
  • Maintain integration diagrams, sequence flows, and system interaction documentation.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
