Description
Provides small group and/or individualized instruction to young children with special needs.
Responsibilities
-Provide small group instruction for three, four, and five year olds who have substantial special needs that can be met within a public school program.
-Design prescriptive language, visual, auditory, and fine motor activities.
-Design classroom management techniques for individuals and small groups.
-Maintain close communication with parents and with specialists.
-Prepare semi-annual reports, annual review narratives, and individualized educational plans for pupils in the program.
-Attend special needs staff meetings and designated school staff meetings.
-Submit budget requests, inventory data, and required status reports as requested.
Qualifications
-Massachusetts certification in Early Childhood Education and Teacher of Children with Moderate Special Needs/
-Experience teaching young children with language and/or developmental delays, behavioral disorders, pervasive developmental delays.
-Experience in specific training in speech and language development and behavior management preferred.
-Superior diagnostic and communication skills.
-Master's Degree preferred.
