Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Engineer

Position Summary

The Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Engineer is responsible for developing and executing the logistics, sustainment, and life-cycle support strategy for aerospace and defense systems. This role ensures that complex equipment and systems can be efficiently operated, maintained, repaired, and supported throughout their life cycle. The ILS Engineer works with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams to optimize supportability, reduce life-cycle costs, and ensure readiness and mission success.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Concepts & Supportability Engineering
  • Develop and document maintenance concepts, including O-level, I-level, and Depot-level maintenance strategies.
  • Conduct Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) to determine optimal repair vs. replace decisions.
  • Define and recommend support equipment, tools, test equipment, and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform repair analysis to identify cost-effective sustainment solutions.

Provisioning, Spares, and Obsolescence Management
  • Conduct provisioning analysis to determine parts lists, spares requirements, and support equipment needs.
  • Prepare and review provisioning technical data (PTD), illustrated parts breakdowns (IPBs), and logistics product data (LPD).
  • Evaluate lifetime buy requirements and diminishing manufacturing sources (DMSMS) risks.
  • Support obsolescence mitigation plans and parts management strategies.

Reliability, Maintainability & Sustainment Analysis
  • Support R&M activities including MTTR calculations, failure analysis, and maintainability assessments.
  • Validate logistics and maintenance predictions through modeling, field data, and test results.
  • Participate in maintainability demonstrations and verification activities.

Life-Cycle Logistics Planning
  • Support the development of Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP) and long-term maintenance strategies.
  • Participate in GIDEP reviews and ensure incorporation of applicable alerts.
  • Assist in configuration management planning, change control, and sustainment impact assessments.
  • Perform parts/material management planning to ensure long-term system supportability.

Technical Documentation & Engineering Support
  • Develop and maintain logistics documentation including:
    • Maintenance Plans
    • Supportability Analyses
    • Technical Manuals
    • Repair Analysis Reports
    • Safety Assessment Inputs
  • Provide technical writing support for logistics deliverables and customer documentation.
  • Apply human engineering and safety engineering principles in supportability planning, including contributions to Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).

Cross-Functional & Customer Support
  • Work closely with systems engineering, design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to ensure supportability is built into system design.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer briefings.
  • Support proposal development, cost estimates, and logistics input to Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Ensure deliverables comply with military standards such as MIL-STD-1388, MIL-STD-472, MIL-HDBK-502, GEIA-STD-0007, and program/logistics requirements.

Remote Option: While this role is ideally based in our Pine Brook, NJ office, we are open to a remote arrangement for the right candidate.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $125,000 - $175,000 Annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
