About the Role
This is a newly created, cross-functional leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of insurance operations and technology. As our Insurance Operations & IT Manager, you'll be responsible for the systems, processes, and compliance infrastructure that keep our brokerage running - across Morison Insurance and group of companies.
You'll be the go-to person when our insurance systems need to talk to each other, when a carrier relationship needs attention, when a regulatory change needs to be operationalized, or when a technology decision needs someone who understands what it means for the business. This is a role where you'll have genuine ownership and real impact.
What You'll Do
Insurance Systems Management
- Own and administer Applied EPIC as our core broker management system - configuration, workflows, user access, data integrity, and reporting
- Manage Pathway for document management and ensure its integration with EPIC is accurate and efficient
- Oversee staff access and data flow across insurance company portals; manage broker codes and carrier connectivity including CSIO download standards
- Manage day-to-day relationships with BlueButler and Quandri; identify and resolve integration gaps across the full platform ecosystem
- Act as the internal escalation point for cross-system issues and provide leadership with recommendations on systems improvements
IT Leadership & Digital Transformation
- Lead Morison's IT department
- Drive digital transformation initiatives and oversee major IT projects including upgrades, migrations, and new platform implementations
- Evaluate new technologies and present recommendations to leadership; manage vendor relationships with Applied, BlueButler, Pathway, Quandri, and others
Operational & Insurance Industry Compliance
- Monitor regulatory and industry changes and translate them into operational action (e.g., SAB reforms, coverage requirement changes)
- Complete CGI compliance reporting (semi-annual and annual); manage brokerage and location additions/removals
- Maintain internal policies and procedures in line with current insurance regulatory standards
E&O, Bond & Cyber Insurance
- Manage E&O, fidelity bond, and cyber liability policies for Morison Insurance and Aurora Underwriting Solutions
- Coordinate renewals, mid-term changes, and claims activity; maintain accurate coverage records
Reporting
- Produce and review mid-month and month-end operational books across entities; ensure accuracy and follow through on corrections
- Generate expiry, client, activity, mailing list, sales, and cancellation reports; produce ad hoc reports as requested
Brokerage Acquisitions
- Support operational due diligence and system integration for brokerage acquisitions
- Coordinate onboarding of acquired brokerages into Morison's platforms, workflows, and carrier relationships
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in insurance brokerage operations, IT management, or a combined role
- Hands-on knowledge of Applied EPIC - including workflows, reporting, policy processing, and system administration
- A solid understanding of how insurance systems connect - BMS (EPIC), company portals, document management, and automation platforms - and what happens when they don't
- Experience managing IT vendors, projects, and support functions
- Familiarity with carrier/company relations, broker code management, and portal administration
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations and entities
- Clear, confident communicator - equally comfortable with a technology vendor, a carrier rep, or a leadership team
- RIBO licence is an asset; experience with Pathway, BlueButler, Quandri, or CGI compliance is a definite plus
What We Offer
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Comprehensive group benefits - health, dental, and vision
- RRSP matching program - 7.5%
