Instrumentation Designer

Brampton, ON

Be our next Instrumentation Designer!

In this role, you will be a part of the Oil & Gas team, based in Brampton, ON office and have the opportunity to be responsible for delivering the instrumentation system design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance for projects in the oil and gas industry. The role requires expertise in instrumentation design, instrument material selection, fabrication, and installation procedures. The Instrumentation Designer must ensure that all instrument systems comply with industry standards and project specifications, and that they are installed and maintained safely and efficiently.

What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Ensure that instrumentation and control systems are designed, inspected and installed in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Familiar with EP, EPC and EPCM project structure.
  • Review, supervise and approve EPC contractor control and instrumentation engineering content as required.
  • Ensure that any 3rd party control, electrical and instrumentation engineering contractors/suppliers adhere to the project technical specification required.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards, related to instrumentation and control systems, such as ISA, IEC, and NEC.


What your experience looks like
  • Designing of control systems, sizing and selecting instruments, cables, etc.
  • Preparing process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), systems/technical specifications/POs, datasheets, install details, loop drawings for instrumentation electrical and communication equipment.
  • Evaluating safety system design and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure reliable integration with process control systems (HAZOP, SIL, LOPA).
  • Supervising inspection, installation and testing system performance.
  • Experience in electrical and telecom is preferred.
  • Technical diploma in Industrial Instrumentation or greater.
  • The ideal candidate should be proficient in Autocad, Smart Plant Instrumentation and Smart Plant 3D experience
