Wood is recruiting for an E&I Designer to join its Oil & Gas business in the Greer, SC area. The selected candidate will work as a member of the Project Engineering group and ensure assigned project goals and objectives are achieved. Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future. Local or regional area candidates strongly preferred, as no per diem or relocation are available for this role. No outside agencies.

As an E&I Designer, you will be responsible for producing facility designs and layouts with knowledge of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems. You will perform design tasks for purchasing and construction-level drawings, create reliable CAD models with precision, and develop and improve department practices/standards. Your role will involve conducting design reviews and traveling to job sites as required.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Produce facility designs and layouts with knowledge of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems
- Understand codes applicable to equipment and construction (NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, OSHA, NFPA, local codes, MCBU standards, and Mitsubishi Engineering Standards)
- Perform design tasks for purchasing and construction level drawings with limited supervision
- Create and maintain typical Electrical drawings: Single Line Diagrams, Power Panel Schedules, Power Plans, Lighting Plans, Motor Control elementaries, Cable Schedules, etc.
- Create and modify instrument loop diagrams
- Create and modify control system schematics (120VAC, 24VDC...)
- Rudimentary control panel design and specification of components
- Provide instrumentation input on P&IDs
- Control system platforms used on site: Foxboro IA, Allen Bradley PLCs (PLC-5, ControlLogix), Siemens S7
- Identify cost-effective solutions to design problems
- Plan assigned work effectively and liaise with the project team and line manager
Qualifications
What Makes You Remarkable?
Expected:
- 5-10 years of related engineering design experience in electrical and instrumentation design
- Typically, 5+ years of relevant design experience in oil and gas, industrial construction, or power generation industries
- Functional knowledge of National Electrical Code
- Experience with basic power, lighting and grounding design
- Motor elementary design experience
- VFD elementary and controls design experience
- AutoCAD experience is required
- Microstation experience is a plus
