Full Job Description
STV is seeking a Construction Inspector for our Transportation Northeast department in Hartford, CT

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect construction activities related to highway/bridges, facilities/buildings, or rail/transit projects.
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and verifying contractor submissions.
  • Identify and document nonconforming work and ensure timely corrective action
  • Review project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, daily reports, and change orders.
  • Complete daily work reports with photographs and progress documentation
  • Track and document quantities of work performed by the contractor
  • Resolve construction problems and challenges in the field
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and agency representatives, to facilitate project success.

Required Qualifications:
  • NICET Level 1 with 4 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection. Experience on transportation infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CTDOT CEI processes, contract administration, and construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and methods
  • Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred a degree in Civil Engineering
  • Working knowledge of COMPASS and AASHTOWare Project
  • NETTCP - Concrete Inspector, ACI - Concrete Certification, NETTCP - HMA Paving Inspector, NACE, AMP, or BCI - Coating Inspector, and ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor certifications.


Compensation Range:
$84,466.00 - $95,984.00
