Recherche Ingénieur mécanique avec 5-10 d'expérience en conception de turbine ou alternateur pour les centrales hydroélectriques. Le poste est en présentiel au bureau de Brossard avec possibilité de télétravail 2 jours par semaine

Au sein de GE Vernova, division Hydro, et plus précisément de l'équipe Support site Fiabilité et Opération, l'ingénieur(e) ''lead'' travaille sur la réhabilitation de turbines et de générateurs hydroélectriques ainsi que sur de nouveaux projets, en appui aux activités de service, de garantie et de clôture de projet. Il ou elle évolue au sein d'une équipe de plus de 20 ingénieur(e)s qualifié(e)s, reconnue pour sa rapidité d'intervention et sa capacité à résoudre les problèmes.

Job Description

Responsabilités essentielles

Soutien en ingénierie aux activités sur site
  • Effectuer des visites sur site afin d'évaluer l'état des turbines et/ou alternateurs existants, et superviser les essais de référence sur l'unité avant le démontage sur site.
  • Tenir un appel téléphonique quotidien avec l'équipe de chantier afin de répondre aux questions et d'anticiper les problèmes potentiels.
  • Formuler des recommandations de travaux additionnels à la suite du démontage et de l'inspection des composants existants.
  • Examiner et approuver les fiches de relevés de chantier.
  • Résoudre les non-conformités et les problématiques générales.
  • Effectuer des visites sur site pendant les phases critiques du projet.
  • Soutenir les activités de mise en service et les phases d'essais.


Fiabilité
  • Résoudre les problèmes durant la période de garantie.
  • Transmettre le retour d'expérience à l'équipe de conception.


Opération
  • Agir à titre de principal point de contact sur site pour les contrats d'exploitation et de maintenance.


Service
  • Faire la conception et la documentation connexe pour les projets de service (projets de 5M et moins) , notamment en soutien à la clientèle, en évaluation de l'état des équipements, en gestion des pièces de rechange, en remise à neuf de pièces et en réfection partielle de turbine / alternateur.


Qualifications requises

  • Baccalauréat en génie mécanique.
  • Minimum de 5 ans d'expérience pertinente dans le secteur hydroélectrique.
  • Être membre de l'ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Doit être légalement autorisé(e) à travailler au Canada sans restriction.

  • Capacité à communiquer efficacement avec des équipes chantier et avec les clients.
  • Connaissance de la conception des turbines et générateurs hydroélectriques ainsi que des méthodes de montage.
  • Expérience en conception mécanique, en résistance des matériaux et expérience avec des logiciels de dessin 3D.
  • L'expérience en calcul par éléments finis, à la métallurgie et aux procédés de soudage constitue un atout supplémentaire.

English:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5-10 years of experience in the design of turbines or alternators for hydroelectric power plants. This is an in-office position based at our Brossard location, with the option to work remotely two days per week.

Within GE Vernova's Hydro division-specifically the Reliability and Operations Site Support team-the Lead Engineer works on the rehabilitation of hydroelectric turbines and generators, as well as on new projects, providing support for service, warranty, and project close-out activities. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of over 20 skilled engineers, renowned for their rapid response times and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Support for On-Site Activities
  • Conduct site visits to assess the condition of existing turbines and/or alternators, and oversee baseline unit testing prior to on-site disassembly.
  • Hold daily conference calls with the field team to address questions and anticipate potential issues.
  • Formulate recommendations for additional work following the disassembly and inspection of existing components.
  • Review and approve field measurement sheets.
  • Resolve non-conformities and general technical issues.
  • Conduct site visits during critical project phases.
  • Support commissioning activities and testing phases.


Reliability
  • Resolve issues during the warranty period.
  • Provide feedback to the design team.


Operations
  • Act as the primary on-site point of contact for operations and maintenance contracts.


Service
  • Perform design work and prepare related documentation for service projects (projects valued at $5M or less), specifically in support of customer service, equipment condition assessments, spare parts management, component refurbishment, and partial turbine/alternator overhauls.


Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the hydroelectric sector.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without restriction.


Desired qualifications:
  • Creativity, responsiveness, a sense of urgency, a strong balance between practical judgment and scientific rigor, priority management skills, proactivity, autonomy, and excellent communication skills are essential qualities for this position. Availability and ability to travel within North America and internationally.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site teams and clients.
  • Knowledge of the design of hydroelectric turbines and generators, as well as assembly methods.
  • Experience in mechanical design, strength of materials, and 3D drafting software.
  • Experience in finite element analysis, metallurgy, and welding processes is considered an additional asset.
  • Must agree to undergo pre-employment screening, including but not limited toreference checks and background checks.
