We are seeking an Infrastructure Services Lead to join our team in VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada.

As the Infrastructure Services Lead you will lead a talented team while being a hands-on technical expert across servers, networks, backup, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms. You'll play a critical role in ensuring stable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure, working closely with cross-functional teams and end users to resolve issues that impact business operations.

This is an ideal opportunity for a leader who enjoys balancing people leadership (20%) with technical expertise, and who is passionate about continuously improving infrastructure by exploring and implementing emerging technologies.

Hybrid Work Model

This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for on-campus presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month.

Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area.

Responsibilities

  • Owns all IT Infrastructure operational issues and collaborates with team members, end users and other cross functional support teams.
  • Acts as primary technical lead and leads project meetings with staff, contractors, and service providers to ensure requirements and priorities are understood, deliverables are met and issues are resolved.
  • Provides technical expertise and recommendations for planning, procurement, and sourcing strategies.
  • Monitors the performance of all infrastructure components against KPIs and takes preemptive measures to minimize interruptions and keep the performance at required SLAs, including proactive identification of opportunities for improvements.
  • Evaluates new and evolving technologies, products, and standards, and work with other key stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain technology roadmaps, plans, and infrastructure architecture blueprints and solutions that align with business needs.
  • Develops, maintains, and executes all infrastructure related aspects in support of disaster recovery processes.
  • Leads and supervises staff including assigning work, approving leave, responding to grievances, and initiating the discipline process.
  • Mentors, coaches, motivates, and manages the performance of a team of technology professionals.


Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Must have
  • Five years of demonstrated hands on experience in at least one of the following areas or eight years cumulative overall:
    • Backup and storage
    • Server/System admin
    • Virtualization
  • Experience leading and mentoring technical teams, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working within operational and project cross functional teams of staff, contractors, and external service providers.
  • Experience designing infrastructure systems (compute, networking, storage & backup) in a large enterprise.
  • Experience resolving infrastructure incidents and problems (i.e. Backup and storage, Networks, and servers) in a complex infrastructure environment.

Nice to have
  • Experience in the following:
    • Cohesity backup solution
    • IaC (ie Terraform)
    • Infrastructure observability, logging, alerting, and analytics
    • Linux server administration


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with proven ability to motivate, mentor and coach others, resolve conflict and work in a changing environment.
  • Ability to lead technical projects and drive initiatives independently.
  • Ability to identify, prioritize, and solve complex IT Infrastructure-related problems, in a fast-paced complex and dynamic environment, under pressure and ambiguity.
  • Ability to establish relationships and collaborate effectively with others across the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • In depth knowledge of computing, storage, operating systems (Windows, Unix/Linux), servers/appliances, and virtualization, including cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of ITSM processes: e.g., incident, problem and change management.
