Position Summary

This position provides the opportunity to join a highly visible leadership role at the intersection of refinery operations and digital innovation, where you will drive the delivery of critical End User Computing (EUC), Edge and IT infrastructure capabilities across Marathon Petroleum's refining environment. As the primary point of contact with onsite IT leaders, you will collaborate closely with onsite teams, infrastructure organizations, and business leaders to ensure reliable operations while accelerating the adoption of transformative technologies. This role oversees a growing portfolio that includes Edge computing, LoRaWAN and industrial sensoring solutions, operational drone capabilities, and mobility support to a rapidly expanding connected frontline workforce. Success requires strong operational experience, exceptional influencing skills, and a relentless drive to deliver results through cross-functional alignment and execution. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operational execution, maintenance, and continuous improvement of corporate collaboration and workplace technology services, including Microsoft Teams Rooms, phones, printers, and peripheral devices - driving high availability, user satisfaction, and service excellence.
  • Manage the delivery and support of mobile devices and supporting infrastructure ensuring highly available devices enabling plant workers to seamlessly interact with operational IT systems, execute work in the field, and resolve issues at the point of activity.
  • Enable and support the industrial sensoring wireless roadmap, leveraging technologies such as LoRaWAN, WirelessHART, and private LTE (pLTE) to enable reliable sensor connectivity, improve asset visibility, and ensure continuous operations through resilient network performance and rapid issue resolution.
  • Manages daily operations of the team, providing guidance, mentorship, and driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Oversees recruitment, development, retention, and performance to build strong talent.
  • Plans and leads low- to medium-complexity IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and adhere to quality standards.
  • Ensures the availability, reliability, and security of technology systems with a particular focus of Refinery onsite IT/Business Network systems. Collaborates with key stakeholders and internal groups to identify needs, deliver effective solutions, and support business objectives.
  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of digital products and solutions-from ideation through delivery and support-by orchestrating cross-functional collaboration across development, QA, and operations to ensure timely, high-quality releases aligned with IT standards and governance. Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by leveraging performance metrics and user feedback to identify and act on opportunities. Embed practices that foster long-term sustainability, operational resilience, and service excellence. Proactively manage risks with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Align product roadmaps with business strategy and long-term objectives, especially within enterprise and Oil & Gas industry contexts. Ensure Refining operational product roadmaps are aligned with enterprise Infrastructure and Cybersecurity plans and projects. Champion technology-driven process improvements through cloud, cybersecurity, data governance, and digital transformation initiatives that foster innovation and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Designs and manages enterprise-grade Infrastructure platforms-including CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and automated testing-alongside infrastructure-as-code and configuration management for scalable, repeatable deployments. Embeds security controls throughout the Platform delivery lifecycle, incorporating static and dynamic analysis, vulnerability scanning, secret detection, and policy enforcement to ensure secure-by-default outcomes. Identify areas of opportunity for improvement through integration, automation and enhanced business capabilities and ensure we are fully utilizing and benefiting from tools across the enterprise.
  • Identifies and solves technical and operational problems; understands and recognizes broader impact across the area of responsibility. Ensure IT controls are applied at all applicable sites, and oversees lifecycle management of hardware and software assets.
  • Oversee budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of IT services. Make strategic decisions on resource allocation and contract negotiations that align with business priorities and drive transformational outcomes.
  • Stays abreast of the latest technology trends, industry advancements, and regulatory changes, and makes recommendations for adopting new technologies to improve operational efficiency.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other computer-related degree required.
  • 10+ years of diversified IT experience required.
  • 3 or more years of direct or indirect leadership experience required.
