Information Technology (IT) Lead

Job Summary

Leidos is looking for an IT Lead to join a nationally significant ACAT 1 systems development program utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology and model-based systems engineering techniques. Program execution follows DEVOPS best practices and employs robust development, test and production environments. Leidos is the prime contractor providing system engineering, development, test, integration and operational support. The program is focused on injecting new technology and adding advanced capabilities while continuing to support an on-going mission and operational system.

The IT Lead will oversee the daily operations and performance of the IT department, including management of system administrators, network administrators, and other IT personnel. This role is responsible for ensuring IT projects and services align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives while collaborating with teams and stakeholders across the organization. The IT Lead will report to the Operations Lead and Program Management Office (PMO) and support IT strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel management. The selected candidate will also provide leadership in architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design and implementation, testing, and documentation for program systems. Responsibilities include leading IT activities across the full scope of development and sustainment efforts. The IT Lead will also play a key role in requirements management, risk management, interface management, and work planning and implementation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage, mentor, and evaluate IT staff, including system administrators, network administrators, and other IT professionals.
  • Ensure the availability, reliability, security, and scalability of IT infrastructure, systems, and services.
  • Coordinate and prioritize IT projects and initiatives to ensure timely and successful completion and delivery.
  • Develop, implement and oversee IT policies, standards, and best practices, ensuring full compliance with all applicable policies and requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues in a timely manner, escalating critical matters as needed.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer-focused service within the IT department and across the organization.
  • Monitor emerging IT trends, technologies, and solutions, and evaluate their feasibility and applicability to the organization.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on the IT team's performance, key achievements, and operational challenges.

Basic Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or a related field and at least 20 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Minimum of 12 years of IT-related experience, including at least 8 years in IT management.
  • Must have in-depth experience leading and managing system administrators, network administrators, and other IT professionals.
  • Must have extensive, proven experience implementing and managing IT projects and services, preferably using Agile, Scrum, and related delivery methodologies.
  • Must have experience supporting large-scale programs, including tasks such as conducting technology assessments, trade studies, analysis of alternatives, and capability roadmap development.
  • Must have demonstrated experience and ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and customer organizations.
  • Must have extensive experience operating under challenging restraints while delivering against mission milestones and priorities.
  • Must have experience presenting, briefing, and discussing technological strategies and solutions with executive leadership.
  • Must have experience working in an Agile development environment, and with Agile systems engineering, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.
  • Must have excellent planning, prioritizing, and managing skills, and must be able to communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be an independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work, both independently and with a team, in a fast-moving environment.
  • Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven track record of successfully leading IT teams of 20 or more personnel.
  • Agile-related certification and experience with SAFe strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience and expertise in cross domain solutions, cyber solutions, System Architecture and similar fields.
  • Hands-on technical experience and extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems and services, network security, data management, and business applications.

Pay Range $154,050.00 - $278,475.00
