Information Security Governance Technical Writer / Cybersecurity Governance Technical Writer - NIST & IRS 1075

In this role you will bring your prior experienec with cybersecurity governance writing to join our team working onsite in Jackson, MS. You will develop and maintain enforceable information security policies, technical standards, procedures, implementation guidance, and security baselines. If you love working in a role that is not a general technical writing or security operations role but more of an owner of IS Security Governence for Cybersecurity framework then this job is for you! Direct experience authoring formal cybersecurity governance documentation aligned with frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, IRS Publication 1075, and CIS Controls is required.

Overview / Summary

Develop, revise, and maintain information security governance documentation. This role focuses on creating technically accurate, enforceable documentation aligned with cybersecurity frameworks and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and revise information security policies.
  • Develop technical standards supporting approved security policies.
  • Develop operational procedures and implementation guidance.
  • Create security baselines and configuration documentation.
  • Develop compliance documentation for technical accuracy, consistency, completeness, and enforceability.
  • Recommend improvements to governance documentation structure and organization.
  • Produce clear documentation suitable for technical staff, management, auditors, and external reviewers.
  • Work with subject matter experts to accurately document existing processes and required controls.
  • Maintain document version control and support periodic reviews.

Required Qualifications
  • Technical writing experience involving cybersecurity or IT governance.
  • Demonstrated experience with several of the following:
    • NIST Cybersecurity Framework
    • NIST SP 800-53
    • IRS Publication 1075
    • CIS Critical Security Controls
    • Security governance and risk management
    • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
    • Incident Response
    • Vulnerability Management
    • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience writing documentation aligned with:
    • NIST Cybersecurity Framework
    • NIST SP 800-53
    • IRS Publication 1075
  • CISSP, CISA, CGRC, Security+, or equivalent certifications.
