Job Summary

The Informatics Lead serves as the operational leader for clinical informatics, electronic health record (EHR) governance, workflow optimization, adoption, and change management initiatives. This position serves as a bridge among clinical operations, end users, and technology teams by translating operational needs into effective system solutions that improve efficiency, quality, compliance, and the patient experience. The Informatics Lead provides leadership during EHR implementation, optimization, and ongoing governance activities, ensuring that clinical systems align with organizational goals and support safe, effective, and culturally responsive healthcare delivery.

Essential Functions

The following functions are fundamental to the position and are required of all incumbents, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions define the role and are not an exhaustive list of all duties.
  • Lead clinical informatics initiatives that improve workflows, operational effectiveness, quality outcomes, user experience, and adoption across the organization.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and technical teams to analyze workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and translate business needs into system designs, configuration recommendations, and workflow enhancements.
  • Monitor system utilization, adoption, optimization metrics, user feedback, and performance indicators to identify trends, barriers, and opportunities for continuous improvement and data-informed decision making.
  • Lead and facilitate EHR governance, including prioritizing enhancement requests, coordinating committee meetings, preparing recommendations, tracking decisions, and ensuring follow-through on approved initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain system standards, workflows, policies, documentation, and optimization roadmaps that promote consistency, compliance, efficiency, reporting, clinical documentation improvement, and user satisfaction.
  • Coordinate operational readiness, implementation, upgrade, stabilization, optimization, and change management activities, including issue monitoring, communication, resource coordination, and support for go-live events.
  • Support provider and staff onboarding strategies by collaborating with training, operational, and technical teams to promote successful clinical system adoption.
  • Build collaborative relationships with providers, operational leaders, end users, and technology partners to foster engagement and advance organizational objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance on workflow best practices, clinical informatics principles, and system adoption strategies.

Physical Requirments
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings.
  • Frequent use of vision, hearing, speaking, and fine motor skills.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires close visual acuity for reviewing reports, data, workflows, and system configurations.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in nursing, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Information Systems, or a related field required.

Master's degree in healthcare, informatics, business, or technology-related field preferred.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations, clinical informatics, EHR administration, quality improvement, or healthcare technology.

Minimum of three (3) years of leadership, project management, governance, or informatics experience.

Experience supporting EHR implementation, optimization, workflow redesign, or operational transformation initiatives preferred.

Experience with OCHIN Epic preferred.

Post-secondary education or experience that provides the expertise required to perform the functions of the position effectively may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Licensure and Certifications

One of the following is preferred:

Active healthcare license (RN, LPN, Pharmacist, Clinical Provider, Allied Health Professional, or similar) or

Significant healthcare operations leadership experience demonstrating subject-matter expertise in clinical workflows and healthcare delivery.

Preferred certifications may include:

Epic certifications

Clinical Informatics certification

Project Management Professional (PMP)

Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement certifications
