Job Summary and QualificationsThis position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Infection Control Coord is responsible for the prevention, detection and control of infections in the facility. The individual is responsible for establishing, instituting and maintaining an effective system for evaluation and reporting infections in patients. All of this shall be accomplished based on a systematic body of professional knowledge. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
What qualifications you will need:- Completion of Infection Control Surveillance course is preferred. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is desired, as employee becomes eligible to test for it.
- Degree in nursing or medical technology, or related field. Masters degree in public health, preferred.
- Experience in infection control or related areas such as nursing or microbiology.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Strong critical thinking skills. Demonstrates knowledge of microbiology, normal flora, pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
