Full Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Equipment Maintenance: Independently perform advanced maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks on a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, turbines, and specialized machinery.
  • Technical Mastery: Demonstrate mastery in using a variety of hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, welding equipment, and other specialized tools and machinery-specific equipment.
  • Project Leadership and Management: Lead and manage major equipment maintenance, repair, and installation projects, serving as the project lead. Oversee project teams, allocate resources, and ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Safety and Compliance Leadership: Champion safety within the organization, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines. Mentor, train, and provide advanced guidance to junior technicians in safety practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Blueprint Interpretation: read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand the layout and configuration of mechanical systems and equipment. Provide advanced guidance to junior technicians in blueprint reading.
  • Material Procurement and Optimization: Oversee and optimize the procurement and organization of materials necessary for maintenance and repair projects, including sourcing replacement parts, fasteners, and components. Manage inventory efficiently.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex mechanical issues, identify defects, and implement innovative and highly effective repair and maintenance solutions. Provide expert mentorship in problem-solving.
  • Documentation and Reporting Excellence: Maintain meticulous records of work performed, including work orders, material usage, and time allocation. Generate comprehensive reports on maintenance activities and equipment conditions, offering insights for improvement.
  • Mentorship and Training Leadership: Act as a mentor, educator, and leader, sharing advanced knowledge, skills, and experience with apprentices to support their professional development and growth within the organization. Provide training and guidance on advanced mechanical techniques.
  • Continuous Learning and Innovation Leadership: Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical maintenance through advanced training, workshops, and research. Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and optimization.
  • Strategic Planning and Asset Management: Participate in strategic planning related to asset management and equipment lifecycle. Provide insights and recommendations for equipment upgrades and replacements.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting is an asset.
  • Experience using MS Office, database programs & spreadsheets is preferred.
  • Experience in the use of a CMMS and SAP preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with people for problem solving, coaching, and work planning.
  • Demonstrates through use and participation the understanding of all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to work a rotating 12-Hour Shift Schedule.
  • Ability to work effectively as a part of the Maintenance Team to achieve all departmental goals.


This position offers an attractive compensation package with a gain and profit-sharing plan, as well as an excellent Health/Dental and Pension Plan and very supportive team-based work environment.
