JOB SUMMARY

The Industrial Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance operations for a high-volume bullet and ammunition manufacturing facility. This role ensures optimal equipment reliability, safety compliance, and continuous improvement of maintenance systems supporting production targets, regulatory requirements, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on role with the expectation that the manager remains actively engaged in day-to-day operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Maintain and support critical production equipment including:
    • CNC machining centers
    • Stamping and forging presses
    • Automated assembly systems
  • Drive downtime reduction initiatives, utilizing data analysis and root cause problem-solving.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Establish and improve maintenance department systems, processes, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure spare parts inventory and maintenance planning are optimized.

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance technicians.
  • Foster a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Conduct and participate in routine safety walks and audits.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with:
    • Operations
    • Quality
    • Safety and Environmental teams
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and performance excellence within the maintenance department.

Strategic Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritize capital expenditure (CapEx) projects related to equipment upgrades and facility improvements.
  • Drive implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Develop long term maintenance strategies aligned with plant production and growth objectives.
  • Evaluate and manage external contractors and vendors for maintenance related services.


SUPERVISION

This position is responsible for direct reports.

Education
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
    OR
  • Associate's degree or Vocational/Technical Diploma with relevant experience

Experience
  • 10-15+ years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in:
    • High-paced, high-volume production environments
    • Team development and leadership

Lean Manufacturing and 5S implementation

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical Expertise

Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles
• Experience with automation systems (PLCs and controls)
• Experience with stamping presses
• Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies (5 Whys)

WORK ENVIROMENT/CONDITIONS
• Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and regulated materials.
• Requires adherence to strict safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
