Overview

The Industrial Engineering Integration Team is seeking an engineer for product development and implementation on SSW and future programs.  These products will be developed and documented during the initial phases of the prestart planning process and will ultimately feed the downstream planning customer to support the initial load of product structure for generation of work packages.  Falling under the Construction Readiness directorate, the candidate will be an integral part of the up-front development and implementation of Industrial Engineering processes to further expand engagement and impact on future programs.  The candidate will be located in Quonset Point with occasional travel to New London, working in a cross functional team with the following but not limited to:

  • Operations
  • Detail Planning
  • Advanced Planning
  • Design Build Sustain
  • Engineering

 

The qualified candidate will be responsible to:

  • Develop and implement processes required for Industrial Engineering evaluation of new products to be built
  • Work with operations on proposed scope and sequence of work to verify work packages reflect the way the work is done
  • Develop product structure to feed planning required information for quality work package development
  • Document, evaluate, and improve operations construction sequences
  • Utilize available tools to estimate cost, schedule, manpower, and develop other recommendations about the manufacturing processes
  • Capture issues/lessons learned and resolve them to prevent recurrence
  • Implement portions of the Production System
  • Mentor/train less experienced group members
  • Support future state initiatives and support in development of future state road maps
  • Ability to walk the shop floor to support operations during construction

This position is on-site at the North Kingtown, RI location

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or similar CAD/modeling software
  • Previous work experience in manufacturing/operations or Engineering
  • Project management certification or experience
  • Prior Industrial Engineering experience

  • Highly motivated, be able to perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in a team environment.
  • Engineers must work well with all levels of engineering, operations and planning
  • Experience reading drawings/blueprints
  • Experience documenting, developing and managing project plans
  • Detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes and construction sequence
