How will you create an impact?
In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Indigenous Recruiter works closely with members of the Recruitment team, the Business Partner, Indigenous Employee Experience, and the Indigenous Partnerships Team; this role fulfils an integral role in implementing Interior Health's (IH's) Indigenous Employee Experience strategy across the Interior region. This role is dedicated to attracting Indigenous talent and enhancing the representation of Indigenous peoples in our workforce, contributing to a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization.
The Indigenous Recruiter works under the framework of a focused recruitment strategy comprised of four key elements in support of IH's commitment to increasing Indigenous workforce representation and advancing workforce equity over time.
Community Engagement - creating recruitment linkages with Indigenous communities.
Student Engagement - building for the future through recruitment linkages with educational partners.
Building Organizational Awareness - guiding more effective Indigenous-focused hiring practices in IH.
Recruiter Activities - marketing employment opportunities to 'job ready' Indigenous peoples and supporting all members of the Recruitment team to engage in practices that support IH's representative goal.
Travel is a requirement of this position.

A strong recruitment team that supports hiring managers in meeting their Health Human Resource needs and supports candidate readiness through guidance and coaching.
What will you work on:
Working within an accountability framework, the key responsibilities include:
Works collaboratively with IH leaders/managers to promote work opportunities to Indigenous candidates.
Provides Indigenous focused candidate sourcing advice and guidance to hiring managers and other members of the Recruitment team.
Works alongside other Recruiters to prescreen and short-list Indigenous candidates as per manager specifications.
Provides assistance to the recruitment team's marketing specialists with development of culturally sensitive marketing materials.
Provides HR guidance to managers on interview and selection of external Indigenous applicants.
Provides support and guidance to managers and members of the Recruitment team around Section 42.
Provides recruitment support to hiring managers of Indigenous specific job postings which includes conducting needs analysis, applicant reviews, prescreening and other recruitment related duties as requested by the hiring manager.
Creates and maintains a database of relationships both internally and externally for the purposes of sharing opportunities, seeking funding supports, and updates that are relevant to Indigenous recruitment.
Participates in meetings and working groups as assigned.
Provides coaching and career support to Indigenous applicants and employees, from initial career exploration through to job search, application, interview preparation, and onboarding. Supports candidates in a practical way, including resume and cover letter development, mock interviews, and understanding career pathways within IH. May support or coordinate workshops or information sessions related to healthcare careers and workplace success.
Actively advocates for Indigenous representation and inclusion within the organization, ensuring that recruitment strategies align with these goals.
Maintains effective working relationships with representatives from academic institutions, professional associations, recruitment agencies and other organizations to further promote healthcare careers to members of IH-region First Nations Communities, to members of the BC Métis Nation, to urban and 'away-from-home' Indigenous Peoples.
Supports the recruitment team to gather Indigenous candidate and recruitment data and collates and reports on this data.
Ensures all reporting is up to date including Section 42 reports.
Represents IH at related recruitment functions (e.g., job fairs).
In alignment with IH's Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualfications
Education, Training, and Experience:
Lived and living experience as a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit person.
Demonstrated knowledge of, or commitment to learn, culture, protocols, traditions, and ideology of Indigenous Peoples and organizations in the B.C. Interior. Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous worldviews and perspectives of health and wellness.
A relevant undergraduate degree. A non-related degree and experience, in combination with a professional designation (e.g., CPHR), will be considered.
A minimum of three years of recent, related experience combined with:
Experience working in support of Indigenous employees.
Experience with Indigenous specific recruitment.
Experience running a recruitment desk.
Experience of interviewing and using selection tools.
Valid B.C. Drivers' license.
