About this role

Your team

At the core of BlackRock’s global operations, the Technology & Operations team enables the firm to scale, innovate, and deliver for clients. Within Technology & Operations, the Outsourced Platform Services (OPS) team leads the design and deployment of middle and back office operating models and solutions that support our outsourced service model on BlackRock’s proprietary investment platform, Aladdin.

As a member of OPS, you will work directly with clients and internal partners to shape how investment accounting functions are designed and executed. The team translates business needs into scalable, resilient processes and operating models that support complex investment strategies across multiple asset classes. You will collaborate across functions to implement solutions that are aligned with BlackRock’s technology ecosystem and client service model.

Your role and impact

As an Investment Accounting Implementation Director, you will lead strategic client transformations involving investment accounting operating models, accounting books of record, and platform implementations. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of complex, large-scale implementation programs while partnering across Accounting, Investment Operations, Technology, Product, and Client businesses.

You will serve as a senior client advisor and implementation leader, providing strategic direction throughout the implementation lifecycle. Through your investment accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and focus on operational excellence, you will help clients modernize operating models, mitigate risk, and realize the full value of BlackRock’s outsourced operating model and Aladdin platform.

Your responsibilities

  • In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Lead large-scale accounting transformations bringing the investment accounting book of record onto Aladdin and implementing operating model change across asset classes and investment strategies.

  • Serve as the senior implementation lead for complex client engagements, providing strategic oversight throughout planning, execution, and post-implementation stabilization.

  • Partner with clients and stakeholders to design scalable investment accounting operating models that align with business objectives and industry best practices.

  • Drive governance, implementation methodology, project execution, and delivery excellence across multiple concurrent programs.

  • Develop deep subject matter expertise in investment accounting processes, operating models, and platform capabilities while helping shape strategic enhancements to implementation offerings.

  • Identify implementation and operational risks, establish mitigation plans, and provide executive-level reporting to stakeholders and leadership.

  • Partner closely with Technology, Product, Accounting, and Operations teams to influence platform capabilities and improve client outcomes.

  • Mentor and develop implementation professionals while building organizational capability and implementation expertise across the team.

  • Build strategic partnerships with Technology, Product, and Operations leadership to shape and promote the adoption of AI-enabled Aladdin functionalities across implementation programs, while driving a culture of innovation that aligns AI tooling with BlackRock’s strategy, implementation standards, and client delivery objectives.

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that improve scalability, operational effectiveness, risk management, and implementation efficiency.

Your experience

  • Understanding of investment management and investment accounting, supported by seven or more years of relevant industry experience.

  • Significant experience in investment accounting, accounting platforms, accounting operating models, client implementations, or related transformation programs.

  • Proven track record of leading large-scale transformation projects, including operating model implementations, platform migrations, accounting conversions, and process transformation initiatives.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, investment accounting workflows, accounting books of record, and operational processes supporting institutional investment managers.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex programs involving multiple stakeholder groups and cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and executive client audiences.

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data in support of strategic decision-making.

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strategic, collaborative, and execution-focused approach.

  • Experience developing talent, leading teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Curiosity and an interest in learning about financial markets, accounting processes, data, and emerging technology.
