Job Description

SAIC is currently seeking a System Admin to support SAICs Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) Team.

The primary work location is on-site in Huntsville, AL, with occasional travel to other locations both within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS).

MUST commit to a TWO-YEAR assignment outside the continental United States (OCONUS) at a future date. Please note deployments with assigned unit may include hostile areas.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This team delivers high-level technical support, system integration, and field service engineering for the IBCS Program in direct support of U.S. Army fielding. You will serve as an embedded system administrator in a deployed tactical environment - managing classified networks, hardened Linux and Windows systems, and virtualized infrastructure while operating alongside military units.
  • Administer and sustain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems in fielded IBCS configurations; manage system health, patching, and configuration management
  • Administer Windows Server environments including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy in classified network enclaves
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain tactical networks including routers, switches, VLANs, and routing protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF)
  • Manage virtualized infrastructure (VMware/Hyper-V) hosting IBCS applications and COTS/GOTS software integrations
  • Execute CM-directed system updates, patches, and configuration changes on fielded IBCS systems in accordance with program release documentation
  • Represent the IBCS program as the primary technical point of contact for supported units
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network faults across integrated IBCS subsystems; escalate to program engineering as required
  • Provide feedback to program leadership on system performance, reliability trends, and end-user issues
  • Support Program Help Desk as tier-2/3 escalation point
  • Assist in system emplacement, initialization, and configuration at new fielding sites
  • Conduct operator and maintainer training on IBCS system operation and administration


Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years' experience; six (6) years' additional experience may be accepted in lieu of degree (per contract vehicle)
  • REQUIRED CLEARANCE
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance required; U.S. Citizenship required

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
  • IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ CE strongly preferred; must obtain within 180 days of hire if not already active per DoD 8570/8140)

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Linux system administration - RHEL or CentOS; command line proficiency, scripting, user/permission management, log analysis
  • Windows Server administration - Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, domain management
  • Networking fundamentals - TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, switching/routing, firewall rules; ability to independently troubleshoot network connectivity across multi-segment environments
  • Virtualization platform experience - VMware vSphere or Hyper-V; VM provisioning, snapshot management, resource allocation
  • Demonstrated ability to work in field or operationally austere environments
  • Able to lift and transport equipment up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Effective oral and written communication; able to translate technical findings for military operators and leadership
  • Ability to prioritize and execute in high-pressure, time-constrained environments


DESIRED SKILLS
  • Army 25-series or 255-series background highly preferred: 25B (IT Specialist), 25N (Nodal Network Systems), 25U (Signal Support Systems), 25W (Telecommunications Operations Chief), 255A (Information Services Technician), 255N (Network Management Technician), or 255S (Information Protection Technician)
  • Army Air Defense background: 140A (C2 Systems Technician), 140K (AMD Systems Maintainer Technician), 14E (Patriot Fire Control), 14G (Air Defense Artillery - IBCS), or 14H (Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning)
  • Experience operating or maintaining Army tactical network systems (WIN-T, JNN, HCLOS, PACE planning environments)
  • CompTIA Linux+, Network+, or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Familiarity with SIPRNet and classified network enclave management
  • IBCS or similar Army C2 / Air Defense system experience
  • Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) and comply with state requirements
