HGA is seeking a Senior-Level Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Designer to support design, drafting, and documentation efforts for facility, plant, and pipeline projects. This temporary position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively across engineering, project management, vendors, and construction stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Lead design and drafting activities in accordance with industry standards and internal procedures.
- Assign electrical equipment numbers, instrument tags, conduit numbers, and cable numbers.
- Resolve drawing development issues and update/redline record drawings.
- Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment/instrument lists.
- Assist in developing project scopes, design scopes, and construction scopes for contracting purposes.
- Participate in project meetings to clarify scope, capture technical requirements, and provide design insight.
- Support review of manhour estimates and design schedules to optimize project execution.
- Coordinate distribution of design packages and ensure accurate information exchange among stakeholders.
- Provide design and drafting services for time-critical and budget-sensitive projects.
- Support preliminary design work for early-phase or potential projects.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain material quotes and confirm material availability.
- Perform material takeoffs and create parts lists to support timely procurement.
- Develop material data sheets and generate material requisitions for project manager approval.
- Maintain organized documentation and correspondence related to technical design issues.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of standard drawings.
- Maintain subject matter expertise in design/drafting tools, practices, and technologies.
- Assist in improving department specifications, standards, and procedures to reduce design/documentation costs.
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement, inspectors, engineering contractors, and construction teams.
- Provide drafting support for day-to-day operational needs.
- Collaborate with CADD Operators and guide to improve internal design tools and processes.
- Travel by air and/or automobile to facility sites as required.
Requirements- Senior-level I&E design experience is required.
- Strong understanding of drafting standards, instrumentation, electrical systems, and industrial facility workflows.
- Proficiency with CADD tools and associated design software.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites.
