Job Description SummaryThe Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) hardware / FPGA engineer is responsible for designing and manufacturing of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) equipment and embedded software that control safety critical functions for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy's (GVH) BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor. The role requires technical problem solving, requirements management, and effective communication/collaboration with internal and external teams.
Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities- Responsible for Semiconductor design and engineering; designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems. They determine design approaches and parameters; analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests & evaluate results. Common skill sets include Analog, Digital, Mixed Signal, HMOS/MOS/CMOS, PLL, ADC, DAC etc.
- Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
- Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE Vernova. Explains technical information to others.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related STEM field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience (such as PCB design or embedded systems).

Desired Characteristics- Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, monitoring, and electric power system and field engineering.
- Competency in industry standards. IEEE, IEC, IPC, and quality.

- Knowledge and experience with PCB design, signal analysis and system verification tools (Altium, PSpice, SystemVerilog, UVM, etc.)
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
