Full Job Description
In this exciting role, you will be part of a team of highly skilled hydrogeologists and hydrologists, using your technical expertise to better understand and reduce environmental risks related to surface water and groundwater management. You will take ownership of technical assignments, collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, and help develop practical, cost-effective solutions that support safe, reliable, and responsible operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex water management challenges and contributing to sustainable resource development.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 5 years experience supporting hydrogeological programs in mining, oil sands, or other industrial operations
  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer/ Geologist designation (P.Eng / P.Geo.)
  • Expertise supporting hydrogeological programs in mining, oil sands, or other industrial operations
  • Experience with geophysical interpretation is considered an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Compile, interpret, and analyze hydrogeological data to identify key issues and develop clear, risk-based recommendations
  • Prepare technical reports, performance summaries, and regulatory documentation for internal use and submission to regulatory agencies
  • Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations to senior leaders, operations leadership, and cross-functional project teams
  • Represent the Water Resources team on integrated project teams, providing expertise on groundwater management, water quantity, water quality, and aquatic environmental issues
  • Support annual business planning, scope development, prioritization of hydrogeological programs, and responsible budget management


Location and other Key details:
  • You will work out of our Syncrude Mildred Lake site in Fort McMurray or our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 -6th Ave S.W
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will be based on years of experience and scope of work
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
