Human Resources Superintendent
Musselwhite Mine
Purpose
Reporting to the HR Manager, the Human Resources Superintendent will lead the delivery of operational HR programs and services that support workforce capability, employee engagement, workforce stability, and business performance. This role oversees employee relations, workforce planning, recruitment, talent management, performance management, compliance, workforce analytics, and HR operations, ensuring consistent and effective execution of HR strategies, policies, and programs across the operation
Key Responsibilities:
• Own the day-to-day administration and coordination of employee relations activities.
• Provide guidance to leaders on performance management, attendance management, accommodations,
investigations, and corrective action processes.
• Conduct complex employee relations investigations and ensure documentation, timelines, and process compliance.
• Review final investigation reports, recommendations, and summarize for leadership review.
• Monitor employee relations trends and escalate emerging risks.
• Maintain workforce plans, staffing forecasts, and workforce data, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, and
report to leadership.
• Lead talent review and succession planning processes for key operational and leadership positions, identifying high
potential employees and oversee development planning initiatives.
• Monitor vacancy rates, time-to-fill, recruitment effectiveness, and hiring outcomes.
• Implement retention initiatives and monitor workforce stability indicators.
• Lead administration and execution of performance management processes and annual review cycles.
• Lead employee engagement surveys, action planning, and follow-up activities.
• Drive employee recognition programs and service award initiatives.
• Monitor workforce health indicators including engagement, absenteeism, turnover, and retention.
• Coordinate HR audits, compliance reviews, and corrective action follow-up activities.
• Own workforce reporting, HR metrics, and dashboard preparation.
• Provide operational leadership and direction to site HR team members.
• Coordinate HR team workload prioritization and ensure timely delivery of HR services.
• Promote consistent application of policies and employment practices across the operation.
• Maintain immigration records, reporting and audit documentation; manage immigration vendor relationships and
renewal processes.
• Ensure HRIS data integrity, accuracy, and governance standards are maintained.
• Evaluate HR program effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Support development and capability building of HR team members.
• Act as the primary escalation point for day-to-day HR operational matters.
• Support implementation of strategic HR initiatives approved by the HR Manager.
• All other relevant HR duties as assigned by the HR Manager.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour Relations or related discipline.
• At least 5 years of Human Resources experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Human Resources leadership role.
• Previous mining experience considered an asset.
• Experience overseeing workplace investigations and case management.
• Advanced knowledge of employment legislation, employee relations practices and workplace investigations.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Experience managing workforce risk in operational environments.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution capability.
• Ability to lead HR teams in fast paced, high demand environments.
• Experience with HRIS, workforce analytics, and talent systems
• Strong analytical and workforce forecasting capability.
Working Conditions:
• The Musselwhite Mine is a fly-in/fly-out operation. The schedule for this position will consist of 14 days on and 14
days off, 12 hours per day.
Compensation:
• The base salary range for this position is CAD$138,000 - $168,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
• This role is eligible to participate in the Company's annual short term incentive program. The target annual bonus for this position is 25% of base salary, subject to individual and company performance.
• The Company offers a Defined Contribution Pension Plan (DCPP), including an automatic 5% employer contribution, with the option for employees to receive up to an additional 4% employer match on employee contributions.
