Full Job Description
The Manager, Human Resources is a key member of the plant leadership team and is responsible for providing leadership across day-to-day human resources (HR) operations, driving change management efforts, and leading training and development initiatives that foster a strong, employee-oriented culture in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for identifying organizational HR needs and developing, implementing, and sustaining programs that support employee engagement, development, and performance. The HR Manager is a key member of the broader HR team, collaborating with colleagues across corporate and plant locations, and must operate with emotional intelligence, intellectual courage, and make sound decisions quickly while remaining consultative and solution-focused.

Responsibilities include:
  • Identifying and proactively defusing risk and potential liability with respect to people management issues, including conducting fair and accurate investigations.
  • Complying, advocating and leading Health, Safety & Environmental (EHS) programs.
  • Promoting and supporting Company health and wellness initiatives.
  • Forging liaison with centralized corporate HR teams (HRIS, Benefits, Compensation, Talent Acquisition) to create innovative HR programs.
  • Accountable for accurate data entry, understanding current UKG/HRIS processes, and partnering with business leaders to ensure data integrity.
  • Working with managers to create a learning environment at all levels in the organization to support skill training, professional development and continuous improvement for all employees.
  • Providing guidance to leaders regarding employee matters to include performance coaching, Performance Improvement Plans, Individual Development Plans, Human Capital Plans, succession planning, salary planning, etc.
  • Providing guidance on workforce planning which may include organizational re-design work, facilitation of a Talent Review/Selection process, job description creation and analysis, promotions, etc.
  • Partnering and collaborating with business leaders and serving as a member of the plant leadership team.
  • Responsible for project management of various initiatives and may serve as a team/project leader on company-wide projects generated from Business Partners and the Corporate HR function.
  • Partnering with the HR and Shared Services to ensure alignment with the needs of the business in the creation and delivery of HR programs.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between employees, management and Company headquarters.
  • Interpreting and communicating Company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, such as ADA, FLSA, FMLA and EEO/AAP.
  • Coaching and advising managers regarding policies, procedures, work-related conflicts, disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, terminations, and legal guidelines.
  • Responsible for employee relations along with understanding the responsibility to promote a strong employer-employee relationship.
  • Overseeing personnel records management.
  • Acting as a Change Agent within area of responsibility, including flexing communication style as appropriate, and promoting and facilitating communication to all levels of the organization in order to promote a high performing and engaged workforce.
  • Coordinating employee events.
  • Managing the plant Human Resources Department budget.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business, communications or a related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years prior human resources experience, including prior HR experience in a manufacturing environment, is required.
  • Prior HR management/leadership experience is required.
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification (or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • Prior experience utilizing HRIS/HCM systems is required. Experience utilizing UKG preferred.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in multiple HR disciplines including compensation practices, federal and state employment law, performance management, organizational planning, diversity, organizational development, recruiting, employee relations, safety, and training development.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, sound judgment, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to build relationships across functions and levels.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with people of various educational and technical backgrounds, both inside and outside the company.
