Overview

Definition of Position:

The Human Resources Manager will oversee a wide range of HR functions and provide strategic leadership and support in all aspects of human resources management. Reporting directly to the HR Director, the HR Manager will be responsible for managing the staffing process, ensuring legal compliance, handling complex HR matters, and guiding both staff and management on a variety of HR-related issues. This role also involves analyzing compensation and benefits trends, ensuring organizational policies are up-to-date, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The HR Manager will play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring that HR functions run efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

Staffing & Recruitment:
  • Manage the full staffing process, including job posting, recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees.
  • Ensure that staffing processes align with the company's values and meet workforce needs.

Job Descriptions & Compliance:
  • Review and update job descriptions to ensure they are current, accurate, and compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure job classifications and employment practices comply with relevant legal standards and company policies.

HR Support & Guidance:
  • Provide expert guidance to HR generalists, management, and staff on complex, sensitive, or specialized HR matters.
  • Address employee concerns and issues, including providing advice on reasonable accommodations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Administer and support HR functions in sensitive situations, such as employee investigations, terminations, and workplace misconduct allegations.

Compensation & Benefits Analysis:
  • Analyze market trends in compensation and benefits to ensure the organization offers competitive salary and benefits packages.
  • Recommend and help implement competitive base pay, incentive pay programs, and benefits plans to attract and retain top talent.

Compliance Management:
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of HR policies and practices to ensure compliance and alignment with industry best practices.
  • Recommend improvements to HR processes and policies to maintain legal compliance and best practices in the workplace.
  • Is a content expert regarding GSHCS labor agreements and independent contracts.

Employee Relations & Performance Management:
  • Lead and oversee employee disciplinary processes, including conducting disciplinary meetings and issuing terminations when necessary.
  • Support management in performance management processes, including employee evaluations, feedback, and corrective actions.
  • Manage employee investigations in accordance with company policies, ensuring confidentiality, fairness, and thoroughness.

Leadership & HR Department Functions:
  • Supervise and lead the day-to-day operations of the HR department, ensuring smooth execution of routine HR activities, including staffing, benefits administration, and leave management.
  • Enforce company policies and practices to ensure consistency and fairness across the organization.

Additionally:
  • The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Required: College degree or national certification required.

Preferred: NA

Licenses/ certifications/ registrations

Required: None required.

Preferred: SHRM or PHR certification

Experience

Required: Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resources in progressively more responsible HR positions, with at least 1 year in management or supervisory role. Proven experience with recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and compensation/benefits management.

Preferred: Experience in managing sensitive employee situations and investigations is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting light office items (up to 25 pounds). Visual acuity to view computer screens and read detailed financial documents. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. May be required to move throughout the healthcare facility, including administrative and clinical areas.

Working Conditions:

This position operates in a professional office setting within a healthcare facility. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The office environment is climate-controlled, well-lit, and ergonomically designed for extended computer work. While this role is primarily office-based and does not involve direct patient care, the employee may occasionally be present in clinical areas or interact with staff working in clinical environments. As such, there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases. The organization provides appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed to ensure safety.
