As a Human Resources Generalist of Transportation, you will play a key role in supporting recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR compliance while serving as a trusted resource for Associates and leadership at all levels of the organization. You will help drive engagement, support day-to-day HR operations, and contribute to initiatives that enhance processes, technology, and overall team effectiveness across Transportation, Fleet Maintenance, Logistics, Distribution, and Customer Service. The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $102,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Participate in conflict resolution in the workplace and address Associate concerns promptly.
- Conduct investigations and foster a harmonious, team-oriented environment.
- Provide coaching and counseling to supervisory personnel to improve their ability to effectively direct the workforce.
- Ensure consistent policy application in issue resolution and provide training to supervisory personnel on policies and procedures.
- Assist with or manage orientation of new hires, including employee data entry and maintenance.
- Schedule, conduct, facilitate, audit, and identify new methods to improve new hire orientation.
- Manage onboarding for leaders in assigned departments, including culture, training, and company information.
- Assist with recruitment and pre-employment activities.
- Achieve measurable results that demonstrate improvement in hiring ratio (applicants vs. hires).
- Develop a talent pipeline within the region as the employer of choice and build community relationships (Vo-Tech Schools, State Agencies, DOL, etc.).
- Create innovative methods to improve the recruitment process and applicant experience.
- Make recommendations to management, implement approved changes, measure, audit, and report results.
- Provide support in Benefits, Compensation, Evaluations & Goal Setting, Training & Development, Recruiting, and Turnover & Retention.
- Identify training needs, coordinate workshops, and facilitate or support development opportunities.
- Provide mentorship and feedback to Associates and Leaders to support skill development.
- Manage Peer, Management, and IRB Review processes for assigned departments.
- Identify, design, train, implement, and audit new methods to reduce turnover.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and improve recruiting processes for non-exempt and exempt positions.
- Maintain required associate staffing as directed by Operations (Drivers, Fleet Technicians, Maintenance Mechanics, Leaders, etc.).
Minimum Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related work experience in Human Resources or Business Administration.
- 3-5 years of Human Resources experience.
- Proven knowledge of laws surrounding recruiting, pre-employment, ADA, EEOC, DOL, and OFCCP.
- Demonstrated success in innovative recruitment methods that reduced turnover.
- Ability to plan ahead over a 1- to 3-year time span.
- Ability to multi-task and organize multiple protocols and projects to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills to resolve problems at both strategic and functional levels.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to team performance, effective coaching, and demonstrated teamwork skills.
- Regular travel to other facilities and plants for meetings and Company business.
Preferred Education and Experience- Human Resources experience in transportation, warehousing, or logistics.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors- Perform mostly sedentary work with occasional movement to other offices or buildings.
- Move light equipment or supplies as needed.
- Access files, supplies, and equipment.
- Work in an office, open-partitioned cubicle environment.
- Travel extensively, up to 50% at times (driving, riding, flying, hotels, and highly populated locations).
- Occasionally work outside in yard and garage environments (tractor trailers, shop tools, moving machinery).
- Work in varying conditions: dry, wet, hot, cold, windy, humid, day or night.
- Work in environments with loud noises.
- Wear and use protective and safety equipment as directed by the Company.
