Job Summary

The HR Operations & Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Carina's HR operations, employee benefits, HR systems, onboarding, offboarding, leave administration, personnel records, and HR compliance processes. This position ensures efficient, accurate, and compliant HR operations while delivering exceptional service to employees throughout the employee lifecycle. This position will be primarily remote, with the ability to go into the Denver office for trainings and employee onboarding.

What You'll Do

HR Operations
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Prepare employment documentation.
  • Coordinate background checks and pre-employment requirements.
  • Manage employee personnel files and HR documentation.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding logistics.
  • Administer employment status changes.

Benefits Administration
  • Administer employee benefit programs.
  • Coordinate and execute annual open enrollment.
  • Serve as primary employee contact for benefit questions.
  • Work directly with benefit vendors.
  • Reconcile benefit vendor invoice reconciliation.
  • Coordinate COBRA administration.
  • Process qualifying life events.

Leave Administration
  • Administer FMLA, state leave programs, ADA-related leave coordination, and Company leave policies.
  • Coordinate leave documentation.
  • Track leave usage and communicate with employees and managers.
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators as needed.

HRIS & Reporting
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity.
  • Process employee changes within HR systems.
  • Generate HR reports and workforce metrics.
  • Support payroll by ensuring timely and accurate personnel transactions.

Compliance Administration
  • Maintain I-9 documentation and E-Verify compliance.
  • Coordinate required employment notices.
  • Maintain required personnel records.
  • Support audit preparation.
  • Track required employee training and acknowledgments.
  • Maintain HR standard operating procedures jointly with the Employee Relations Manager.

Operational Support
  • Coordinate employee recognition and service awards.
  • Manage HR departmental communications.
  • Coordinate equipment and access requests with IT during onboarding and offboarding.
  • Assist with departmental process improvements.
What We're Looking For

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related filed; or, equivalent combination of coursework and experience.
  • Three or more years of HR operations or HR administration experience.
  • Experience administering employee benefits and leave programs.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and HR recordkeeping.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success supporting a remote, multi-state workforce while ensuring consistent employee experience.
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR
