Title: Director of Human Resources

$125k - $165k

Reports To: CAO/CFO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading and managing all HR functions, including employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits, compliance, performance management, and organizational development. This role is hands on and ensures the organization's HR strategies align with business objectives while maintaining compliance with federal, multi-state (including California), and local employment laws.

HR Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Partner with senior leadership to support company strategy
  • Lead and mentor the HR team; establish department priorities and KPIs
  • Drive HR initiatives related to culture, engagement, and retention

Employee Relations & Performance Management
  • Oversee employee relations issues, including investigations, discipline, and terminations
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and practices
  • Guide managers on performance management, coaching, and corrective action
  • Mitigate organizational risk through proactive issue resolution

Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws (e.g., wage & hour, ADA, FMLA/CFRA, FEHA, OSHA)
  • Maintain and update HR policies, employee handbook, and procedures
  • Lead audits and ensure proper recordkeeping practices
  • Provide guidance on workers' compensation, leave of absence, and accommodations

Compensation & Benefits
  • Oversee compensation strategy, salary structures, and market benchmarking
  • Work with leadership on annual salary reviews and bonus program
  • Oversee administration of employee benefits in partnership with Corporate benefits team
  • Participate in the Health & Welfare and Retirement Plan Committees

Training & Organizational Development
  • In partnership with leadership and Corporate Training & Development team, design, assign and implement training and development programs
  • Support leadership development and succession planning
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and compliance training

HR Operations & Systems
  • Oversee Paylocity (HRIS) system and integrity
  • Analyze HR metrics (turnover, engagement, etc.) to drive decision-making
  • Streamline HR processes and improve operational efficiency

Reporting
  • Provide reports are requested by Corporate for workers comp, headcount, and budgeting purposes.
