HR Business Partner
Draslovka Mining Solutions is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to support our people across the United States. Reporting directly to the HR Manager and based at our Memphis, TN location, the HR Business Partner manages the core functions of the HR department - including recruiting and interviewing, performance management, compensation, benefits and leave administration, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable law.
Working as an individual contributor, the HR Business Partner develops, implements, and executes strategic HR initiatives that support employees at the Memphis site as well as other remote, U.S.-based employees.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Implement and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
- Support the HR Manager on union engagements and labor relations matters.
- Investigate internal employee complaints of unfair treatment; recommend solutions to the leadership team and, where appropriate, the Ethics Committee - including consistent corrective action or termination - based on company policy and applicable local and federal law, while weighing compliance risk to the organization. Document each investigation, recommendation, and resolution.
- Lead employee engagement initiatives: analyze survey results, identify areas of opportunity, and partner with site leaders, supervisors, and employees to strengthen engagement, trust, and teamwork.
- Consult and coach managers on performance management best practices, including progressive discipline, performance improvement plans, exit strategies, and involuntary separations.
- Actively manage the performance management process, including the annual merit review cycle and performance improvement planning and follow-up.
- Partner with internal and external legal counsel on a range of employment and litigation matters.
- Manage the full talent acquisition process - recruiting, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles - and collaborate with department managers to define the skills and competencies each opening requires.
- Assess training needs and monitor, recommend, or create learning and development programs that provide internal growth opportunities for employees.
- Ensure legal compliance across all HR functions, including EEOC and AAP reporting.
- Build a strong communication plan that promotes a positive working climate.
- Own and manage the PSM Management of Change - Personnel element for the Memphis manufacturing site.
- Foster and sustain a workplace culture that promotes efficiency, productivity, and a positive employee experience.
- Maintain personnel administration systems to ensure employee data is accurate, secure, and tightly controlled.
- Proactively seek better ways of working to deliver improved business results and lead organizational change effectively.
To be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Human Resources or a related field, or 8-10 years of equivalent education and experience.
- Union / labor relations experience (required).
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong active listening, negotiation, presentation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization.
- People-oriented and results-driven, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with, or the ability to quickly learn, the organization's HRIS and timekeeping systems.
