Job Summary
The County of San Diego's Department of Human Resources is seeking a skilled and compassionate Human Resources Analyst to fill a temporary position in our Employee Benefits Division. Temporary positions can last between 6 months and up to 12 months. We're a dynamic team committed to providing a comprehensive and valuable range of benefits to support the well-being of our dedicated County employees.

Future Salary Increases
June 2027 - 4.49% increase to base pay (3.0% Across-the- Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment)


In this position you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs to ensure the smooth operation of our benefits offerings for our employees. This includes coordinating, reconciling, and administering a variety of insurance benefit plans for County employees and their dependents; providing information to employees about their coverage; serving as a liaison between employees and insurance vendors; administering premium payments and reconciliations; ensuring payroll corrections are prepared prior to payroll close; running queries to ensure accuracy of payroll deductions; assisting in the development of employee communications and information regarding all group benefits; and administering various leave programs including the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL) and Military Leave. Additionally, you will participate in annual open enrollment activities and benefit plan changes.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the areas described above, be detail oriented, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a high level of computer proficiency in various software programs including Excel, be able to maintain strict confidentiality, and have excellent follow through.
Hiring Process and Timeline:
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
  1. Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after the interviews.
    Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  2. Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  3. Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications:
1) Seven (7) years of professional human resources experience; OR,

2) Three (3) years of professional human resources experience, AND, a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency
Notes:A master's or doctoral degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience; OR, additional years of experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
