Description

The primary responsibility of the Human Resources Professional is to assist in the management of the HR team and responsibilities for the Puyallup Washington (world headquarters) location. He/she must assist in the development and implementation of a variety of HR related programs, including recruitment, employee relations, training and development, compensation and benefits, and policy development as needed. He/she must support the cultural transformation of the HR function to align with our RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence) and behavioral norms. The HR Professional will support site managers and teammates as a partner and adviser on issues relating to the overall workforce of Red Dot Corporation. This position reports to the VP, Global Human Resources and has no direct reports. The role works collaboratively with our Puyallup HR Team (VP, HR Manager, and HR Coordinator) and our Memphis HR Team (HR Coordinator & HR assistant) to ensure consistency across both locations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

General
• Support the business by delivering best practices in HR and advising on the impact of HR issues and associated risks to the company.
• Act as an ambassador of our cultural transformation, embedding values and norms across all sites.
• Lead by example by maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach and demonstrating leadership traits consistent with our behavioral norms.
• Analyze and provide advice to supervisors on methods and approaches to resolve employee work issues. Provide consultation to supervisors and employees on the interpretation of Company and personnel policies, programs, and procedures.
• Assist in the communication of the overall business and operational strategies.
• Ensure all disciplinary issues are documented as per company and regulatory standards.
• Promote organizational effectiveness through advising, implementing and monitoring on issues including, but not limited to:

a. Employee relations and conflict resolution

b. Succession planning (career path/tracking)

c. Local, State, and Federal Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and Federal regulating entities and stay abreast of the latest industry trends.
• Attend and participate in various Management and Supervisorial meetings and projects as required.
• Maintain good relations with various civic and government organizations, local employers and business people in the community regarding human resources functions.
• Advise the team regarding the impact of HR issues and associated risks to the company.
• Direct recruitment and employment activities, ensure proper Federal and State employment selection criteria are used in filling company positions that align with the company's Affirmative Action Plan goals.

Recruitment and Selection
• Involved in the entire hiring process, from determining resource needs, creating job descriptions and posting, to screening candidates, conducting interviews, and helping to select the best candidates for open positions.
• Responsible for onboarding new employees.

Training and Development
• Ensures all regulatory/compliance trainings are complete (i.e., sexual harassment, diversity, etc). Review and evaluate existing and proposed training programs for learning objectives and recommend appropriate changes to remain in compliance with Federal and State laws/rules and company Vision, Mission and Value systems.
• Support leadership training for managers; work with department heads to determine team member training needs; arrange internal and external training accordingly.
• Continue own education by being informed of industry trends, learning new skills and sharing relevant information with others. Take advantage of professional development activities.

Performance Management
• Support the employee performance review and development process to ensure performance reviews are evaluated regularly and appropriately (including content from supervisors). Work closely with the team to ensure consistent practices occur company-wide and that performance reviews are carried out as per company policy.

Employee Relations
• Field complaints from team members regarding functional or behavioral performance issues, and work to rectify. Focus on the issue and not the person when determining the root cause of a problem.
• Oversee and participate with supervisory personnel in disciplinary, counseling and termination proceedings.
• Research and provide documentation and represent the company in EEOC, ESD and L&I claims, suits and appeals.
• Conduct routine employee investigations and proposes resolution based on findings.
• Analyze and provide advice to supervisors and managers methods and approaches to resolve issues.

Health & Welfare / Benefits
• Support all aspects of benefit program and administration. Assist with open enrollment and employee communication regarding plan design changes. Proactively communicates with employees about benefits to increase employee's knowledge of company offerings.

Workers' Compensation
• Manage self-insured work-related injury programs; advises staff of correct and appropriate action; work as intermediary between employee, medical providers and employee's leadership team in developing light duty job offers or ADA accommodations; oversee company's return-to-work program.
• Respond to Labor and Industry audits, including, but not limited to Timeliness reporting audits.
• Coordinate with counsel regarding any litigation or appeals. Inform VPHR, CFO or Executive Leadership team of risks and associated costs.

Requirements

Education
• BS or BA degree and at least five (5) years of Human Resource function experience. A SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification, preferred.
• A combination of education, training and experience will be evaluated for equivalency.

Experience
• Knowledge of Federal and State laws governing employment and benefit practices.
• Familiarity with self-insured benefits programs, including medical, dental and worker's compensation.
• Previous experience conducting presentations in front of groups required. Previous experience developing and implementing training programs preferred.
• Strong computer knowledge required including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and HRIS systems. Able to effectively maintain written and computer records in accordance with regulatory agencies.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
• Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess distance, color and depth; Required to regularly communicate with others and exchange accurate information .
• Able to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment; able to remain stationary at a computer for extended periods of time and move around his/her assigned workspace.
• He/she must be able to work within different temperature changes, indoors to outdoors; moving between buildings and working around moving equipment/machines; occasionally ascend/descend a ladder or stairs as required.
• Occasional exposure to moving objects and other machines in operation; Occasionally exposed to dust, gas/fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat or cold, electric shock, vibration, chemicals; the noise level in the work environment is usually low.
• State driver's license and clean driving record required.
• Occasional day and night domestic travel is required (up to 15%)

Salary Range: $81,000-$120,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range depends on the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and internal pay equity.
