Position Summary

AB Facility Service is seeking an experienced HR & Union Benefits Specialist with 7+ years of HR and union administration experience in the construction industry. This position will support day-to-day HR operations while managing union benefits, CBA requirements, union reporting, and fringe benefit setup and administration within the HR/payroll systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day HR Generalist support to employees and managers.
  • Manage onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, HRIS updates, and employee records.
  • Administer union benefits and eligibility in accordance with applicable CBAs.
  • Manage union enrollments, classifications, benefit changes, and eligibility requirements.
  • Set up and maintain union wage, benefit, and fringe requirements within HR/payroll systems.
  • Set up new union accounts, classifications, benefit funds, fringe rates, and contribution requirements in the system.
  • Maintain and update union fringe rates, pension, health & welfare, vacation, training, and other benefit contributions.
  • Prepare and submit recurring union reports and fringe benefit reports.
  • Reconcile union reports against payroll and timekeeping records.
  • Review payroll data to ensure union wages, deductions, and fringe benefits are accurate.
  • Resolve discrepancies between payroll, union reports, benefit funds, and CBA requirements.
  • Assist with certified payroll and construction labor reporting.
  • Interpret and apply CBA requirements related to wages, classifications, benefits, and fringe obligations.
  • Work with union representatives, benefit funds, Payroll, Accounting, and Operations.
  • Maintain accurate union records and documentation for audits and compliance.
  • Support general HR compliance, benefits administration, and employee relations.


Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of HR Generalist, HR Operations, Union Benefits, or related experience.
  • Required: 7+ years of union HR/benefits experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction CBAs, union benefits, wage requirements, and fringe obligations.
  • Hands-on experience with union reporting and fringe benefit setup in HR/payroll systems.
  • Experience setting up and maintaining union rates, classifications, benefit funds, and contribution rules.
  • Experience with pension, health & welfare, vacation, training, and other union fund reporting.
  • Strong payroll reconciliation and Excel skills.
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems and system configuration.
  • Ability to interpret and apply CBAs accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple recurring reporting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
