JOB DESCRIPTION

Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN is seeking a collaborative, patient-focused Hospitalist Nurse Clinician to join our Hospital Medicine team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment and is passionate about improving patient outcomes, enhancing the patient experience, and supporting efficient, high-quality care.

The hospitalist nurse clinician is a key member of the care team that is centered around caring for the acutely-ill hospitalized patient.  The hospitalist nurse clinician serves as a point of contact to support hospitalists in the daily duties necessary to facilitate the best care, with the best outcome while giving a great patient experience. This position collaborates in a multi-disciplinary team setting with the focus on communicating plans of care, facilitating order entry, answering questions and completing tasks with the goal of optimizing the patients’ length of stay in the hospital and facilitating safe discharge from the hospital before 2pm.  This position exists to leverage the right person, doing the right work for the right patient outcome.

 

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of accredited bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Three (3) years direct patient care experience as a staff nurse in an acute hospital care is required.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota.
  • Current BLS Certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current nursing practices and techniques.

  • Knowledge and understanding of nursing scope of practice.

  • Knowledge of chemistry, math, pharmacology, anatomy and all body systems.

  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and medical intervention techniques.

  • Ability to effectively lead/participate on an interdisciplinary treatment team

  • Ability to recognize subtle changes in patient’s condition or body systems.

  • Ability to perform a complete nursing assessment of the history, physical, psychosocial and spiritual dimensions.

  • Knowledge of teaching and learning principles.

  • Ability to effectively counsel and educate patients.

  • Knowledge of health care systems and principles of continuum of care, utilization and resource management issues.

  • Skilled as a change agent.

  • Skilled in analyzing data and ability to use critical thinking to make data based decisions.

  • Skilled in problem solving techniques and solution oriented.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of patients care, non-patient care staff, patients, families, general public and external agencies.

  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and prioritize appropriately.

  • Ability to perform basic word processing on a computer.
