Morgan Stanley Home Loans, a division of MSPBNA, is seeking a Vice President Quality Assurance Team Manager to lead the Home Loans Pre-fund Credit Quality Assurance Program within Home Loans. This role is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and governance of a first-line quality assurance function that independently evaluates mortgage loan production and underwriting quality.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring adherence to credit policy, identifying emerging risks, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement, while partnering closely with underwriting, risk, and operations leadership.
Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing oversight of the Home Loans Credit Quality assurance program
Lead, coach and develop a team of QA professionals responsible for loan-level reviews and program execution
Establish and maintain QA frameworks, methodologies, and review standards aligned with regulatory expectations, firm policies, risk governance framework and business requirements.
Oversee execution of quality reviews, root causes analysis, and issue identification across assigned Home Loan processes
Analyze QA results to identify defects, root causes and trends impacting loan quality; prepare executive-level reporting and insights for Senior Leadership
Partner with Business Control, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to address quality gaps and support corrective action plans
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality effectiveness, efficiency, and control maturity
Support audit and regulatory exams by providing documentation, analysis, and subject matter expertise
Promote a strong risk and quality culture through clear expectations, accountability, and communication
Maintain independence from production, underwriting, and closing functions while supporting enterprise control objectives
Ensure QA methodologies appropriately leverage risk-based and random sampling approaches
Deliver comprehensive QA reporting, including trend analysis, defect rates, and performance insights
Present findings to senior management, risk partners, and governance forums, including credit and risk committees
Facilitate cross-functional forums to support issue resolution and continuous improvement
Ensure accurate classification of findings in accordance with defect severity frameworks and target thresholds
Oversee remediation efforts and validate resolution of material and moderate findings prior to loan closing
Track corrective actions and drive accountability across business units
Oversee third-party vendors supporting QA reviews, including quality audits and performance monitoring
Validate vendor adherence to QA standards, procedures, and contractual obligations
Lead vendor governance routines, including performance reviews and escalation processes
3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control
5+ years’ experience in mortgage industry including credit and underwriting
5+ years of people management experience
BS/BA or equivalent (preferred)
Private Bank experience (preferred)
Project management skills (preferred) Candidate must have the ability to partner with key stakeholders and gain consensus in the development of actionable remediation plans.
Deep understanding of industry regulations including underwriting guidelines, loan documentation, and regulatory requirements
Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders
Experience supporting internal audit, regulatory exams or governance committees
Strong experience in Quality Management Systems such as Audit Genius etc.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
