Job Summary
The HIL Engineer will support the development and expansion of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation systems for automotive engineering programs. The role requires hands-on ownership of HIL environments from initial setup through system integration and validation. The engineer will design and build HIL systems, develop test plans and automation, perform electrical and communication interface integration, and support system-level validation and issue triage. Candidates should have direct domain experience in areas such as Low Voltage Systems, Body Control, Power Distribution, Motion Controls/Vehicle Dynamics, Thermal Systems, or Zone Architecture.

Key Responsibilities
 Design, build, and deploy HIL systems from the ground up
 Translate system requirements into test plans and validation strategies
 Perform electrical integration, including wiring schematics and ECU I/O mapping
 Configure and integrate vehicle communication interfaces including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
 Develop and maintain MATLAB/Simulink models
 Develop, automate, execute, and debug HIL tests
 Support system-level validation and issue triage
 Collaborate with systems, controls, and hardware engineering teams
 Support the setup, integration, and validation of multiple HIL environments

Required Qualifications
 4-5+ years of HIL engineering experience
 Demonstrated experience building or standing up HIL systems from scratch
 Strong hands-on experience with dSPACE
 Experience working in system-level validation environments
 Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink
 Experience working with automotive communication interfaces including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
 Experience with electrical integration, wiring schematics, and ECU I/O mapping

Preferred Qualifications
 Direct domain experience with Low Voltage Systems
 Experience with Body Control systems
 Experience with Power Distribution systems, including electronic fuses
 Experience with Vehicle Motion Controls or Vehicle Dynamics
 Experience with Thermal Systems
 Experience working in Zone Architecture environments
 Experience with Vector tools such as CANoe and CANalyzer
 Experience with vehicle diagnostics
 Previous experience working as a HIL Engineer
 Experience supporting automotive research or prototype programs
 Experience in highly hands-on competitive engineering programs such as Formula SAE or similar environments
