High School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director
THE OPPORTUNITY
The successful candidate will serve as both Assistant High School Principal and Athletic Director, helping lead a high school known for academic achievement, student involvement, championship-level programs, and strong community support.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY
This position is intentionally designed to develop the next generation of educational leaders by providing meaningful, hands-on experience in all facets of school leadership. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced district and building administrators while assuming increasing leadership responsibilities in both academics and athletics.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Michigan Administrative Certificate.
- Meet all background check and fingerprinting requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in education, athletics, or related fields.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success and continuous professional growth.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Michigan administrative certification or eligibility for administrative certification.
- Successful experience as a school administrator or demonstrated leadership experience with the potential to grow into a building principal.
- Experience in athletic administration, including program leadership, event management, scheduling, and facility operations.
- Successful coaching experience with a strong understanding of developing student-athletes and supporting coaches.
- Knowledge of MHSAA rules, regulations, eligibility requirements, and compliance expectations.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, coaching, and evaluating staff while fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Demonstrated success in building positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with technology, digital communication platforms, social media, scheduling systems, and other tools that support efficient school and athletic operations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to represent the district professionally in both school and community settings.
- A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, servant leadership, and creating outstanding experiences for students, families, staff, and guests.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assistant Principal Responsibilities
- Support a positive, safe, and student-centered learning environment.
- Assist with student discipline, attendance, and behavioral support systems.
- Support staff supervision, evaluation, and professional growth.
- Assist with school improvement efforts and academic achievement initiatives.
- Collaborate with students, staff, and families to ensure student success.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the school and at school activities.
Athletic Director Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary administrator responsible for game and event management for all middle and high school athletic competitions.
- Provide leadership and oversight for all middle and high school athletic programs.
- Recruit, support, supervise, and evaluate coaching staff.
- Coordinate athletic scheduling, transportation, facilities, officials, and event management.
- Ensure compliance with district, conference, and MHSAA requirements.
- Promote sportsmanship, leadership, and positive student experiences.
- Develop strong relationships with athletes, families, coaches, boosters, officials, and community partners.
- Oversee athletic budgets and operational systems.
SALARY: Administrative non-bargaining unit position. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum pay is $72,500, and the maximum will be defined by experience, credentials, and performance.
