About the role:

The Boston Scientific Hepatic Artery Infusion (HAI) Area Sales Director East will lead a team focused on growing HAI therapy across the Eastern United States. This leader will oversee a team of HAI Consultants and HAI Specialists who support surgical oncologists, medical oncologists and their care teams in helping patients with colorectal liver metastases and cholangiocarcinoma.

We are seeking a high-energy, driven and passionate leader who is motivated to make a meaningful difference for their team, physician customers and patients.

The HAI Area Sales Director East will cover the Eastern United States, including states east of the Mississippi River. Candidates may live in any major metropolitan area with access to an airport. Travel is approximately 75%.

This is a remote field-based role supporting the Eastern United States. Candidates may live in any major metropolitan area within the assigned geography with access to an airport.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Industry knowledge: Provide ongoing tools and education to team members to ensure current clinical evidence and product knowledge. Maintain knowledge of the industry and competing therapies by gathering insights from implanting physicians, multidisciplinary care teams, insurance carriers and other stakeholders to inform and prioritize area and national strategies. Collect market intelligence and share relevant market dynamics with the marketing organization. Maintain awareness of industry trends and their impact on local and area sales activities.
  • Business management: Monitor area sales performance and initiate corrective actions as appropriate. Prepare reports, summaries, analyses and documentation related to area management. Partner with sales support and marketing teams on sales promotions, training, market research and special projects. Ensure effective implementation of customer records, key contacts, reporting and field inventory processes. Develop and execute sales strategies and activities. Manage expenses to achieve sales objectives within budget and conduct monthly profit and loss reviews. Integrate territory plans and account profiles into a broader area sales plan and coach the sales team accordingly. Conduct quarterly sales reviews and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Selling skills: Prepare quarterly area sales forecasts and contribute to assessments of market potential and sales expense estimates. Identify sales forecast gaps, develop corrective strategies and implement plans to drive sales growth. Partner with leadership and marketing to provide recommendations on new products, existing product line revisions and pricing changes. Develop and recommend expansion analyses for new field territories. Develop, implement and monitor an area targeting program. Identify and recommend promotional programs and materials that support the sales plan and strategy. Share selling experiences to motivate team members and develop applicable skills. Coach team members in the field on a disciplined selling model. Demonstrate strong selling skills in customer interactions while enabling team members to lead the sales process. Support corporate and divisional selling initiatives through training and coaching.
  • Clinical excellence: Maintain the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively position HAI therapy with applicable buying influences and differentiate HAI from competing therapies when engaging with various stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining relationships: Maintain relationships with major accounts and develop relationships with key opinion leaders. Attend and participate in customer, company and industry-sponsored forums and medical education courses. Develop and maintain relationships with key Boston Scientific functional areas, including marketing, medical affairs and the broader IO&E sales team. Spend a minimum of 70% of time in the field with HAI team members to support their professional development and maintain strong customer relationships and market understanding.
  • Creative economic and value-added solutions: Identify and develop working relationships with economic buyers within key regional accounts. Facilitate contract negotiations related to HAI across the area. Evaluate business situations based on their impact on the account and customer, as well as the division's short- and long-term business needs. Collaborate with other sales leaders across the division.


Required qualifications:
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in health care sales.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in medical device sales.
  • Experience selling in the oncology market or operating room environment.
  • Bachelor's degree.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Previous management experience building high-performing teams in medical device sales.
  • Experience supporting market development for a new product, procedure or therapy.
  • Strong clinical, analytical and selling skills.
  • Experience managing a high volume of accounts across a broad geography.

The anticipated annualized base amount or range for this full time position will be $183,500 to $, plus variable compensation governed by the Sales Incentive Compensation Plan (which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives) as well as the value of core and optional benefits offered at BSC, which can be reviewed at www.bscbenefitsconnect.com. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, and other relevant business or organizational needs.
