Full Job Description
Job Title: Heavy Equipment Manager
Location: Finleyville, PA
Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $85,000.00
Work Model: Onsite - onsite
Hours: 6:00AM-4:00PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily operations of the maintenance shop, mechanics, CDL drivers, and building maintenance staff.
  • Establishes productivity expectations and tracks the production and activity of workforce including assigning OT (including nights, weekends, holidays), and shiftwork.
  • Reviews daily timesheets of all employees under his / her direction.
  • Effectively trains, coaches, disciplines, and develops employees to achieve and maintain positive working relationships within the organization.
  • Ensures the maintenance shop is properly maintained, functional, and clean.
  • Oversees maintenance and repair of equipment, both in the shop and at the project sites.
  • Sources and purchases parts for equipment and vehicles adhering to purchasing guidelines.
  • Manages expense reporting for company credit card used for material purchases from vendors without accounts.
  • Schedules emissions testing and inspection of all owned vehicles.
  • Manages the inbound and outbound inspection process of all equipment to ensure readiness and dependability.
  • Establishes and monitors service schedules on equipment / vehicles for preventative maintenance and warranty compliance.
  • Researches and makes decisions on equipment and vehicle replacements.
  • Supports on-the-job projects including scheduling requested equipment, transportation, maintenance, and fueling.
  • Ensures the ready status of idle equipment.
  • Assists field superintendents as needed.
  • Serves as on-call 24/7 for emergencies such as water, gas, sewer, and steam line repairs.
  • Plans and implements methods to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Models and reinforces safety as a top priority.
  • Maintains positive working relationships across divisions.
  • Oversees maintenance of company vehicles, including family residences.
  • Enforces all safety policies and procedures, conducting weekly safety meetings.
  • Maintains safety documentation and files records appropriately.
  • Performs other duties as required outside the outlined responsibilities.


Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-10 years managing heavy highway equipment maintenance facilities with extensive knowledge of heavy highway equipment and trucks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other computer programs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, charts, and graphs.
  • Strong project management and employee supervision skills.
  • Sufficient mathematics skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize work assignments effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to enforce and follow all organizational rules and procedures.
  • S supervisory responsibility for all mechanics.
