What you'll bring to the team
Roll Summary

This is a highly visible leadership role, working closely with the Resort Leadership Team and partnering with colleagues across Merlin Entertainments to drive a proactive safety culture, manage critical risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the continued growth and success of the Resort.

 

As a key member of the leadership team, you'll help create an environment where safety is more than a requirement—it's a core value embedded in every aspect of our operation.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and deliver the Resort's Health & Safety strategy, aligned with Merlin Entertainments' global safety vision and priorities.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify, assess and effectively manage operational risks.
  • Drive a positive, proactive safety culture where accountability and continuous improvement are embedded across all teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local health and safety legislation, including OSHA requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance and support on health and safety matters across resort operations, attractions, accommodation and support functions.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Health & Safety team.
  • Oversee governance, assurance, reporting and performance monitoring processes.
  • Support the development and delivery of new attractions, capital projects and operational initiatives by ensuring robust safety considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, industry bodies and external stakeholders on health and safety matters.
  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance relating to Security, First Aid and occupational health programmes.
  • Champion innovation and best practice, continuously enhancing safety performance across the Resort.

 

 

 

Qualifications & Experience What We're Looking For

We're seeking a strategic and collaborative leader with a passion for creating safe, high-performing environments.

Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in health & safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum six years' experience in a senior Health & Safety leadership role.
  • Experience operating within a complex, high-hazard environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and health and safety compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organizational change.
  • Experience developing and implementing successful safety strategies and programs.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people development skills.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Health & Safety certifications such as ASP, CSP or equivalent.
  • Experience within hospitality, leisure, attractions, manufacturing, construction, transportation or other high-risk industries.
  • Experience supporting major projects, construction programs or operational start-up activities.
