What will you be doing!
  • Analyzing and solving problems using standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or previously developed methods.
  • Overseeing the execution of work, ensuring compliance with requirements, and instructions.
  • Ensuring logs and records are maintained and managed throughout their lifecycle in accordance with processes and functional requirements.
  • Participating as a contributing investigator ensuring project scheduled adherence.
  • Assisting in the development of proposal, project plan, quality selection and coordination as part of a team.
  • Maintaining current and up to date understanding of new and evolving issues associated with internal dosimetry.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of new dosimetry methods as required.
  • Participating in dose assessments as required for equipment issues, or event response.
  • Developing and contributing to training relating to the operation of internal dosimetry technologist.
  • Assisting in the development of change management plans and providing oversight on their implementation.
  • Preparing audits and inspections as required.
  • Making independent studies, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions.
  • Problem solving involving experimental laboratory work, mathematical modelling, or paper feasibility studies.
  • Giving presentations to customers and contributing to technical journals.
  • Providing technical input on funding requests for capital equipment and client requirements documents for new equipment and software.
  • Providing technical duties of the Internal Dosimetry Services Supervisor as a delegate when required.
  • Providing recommendations on the resolution of non-conformances as well as recovering from extent of condition.
  • Providing lead on the development of analytical methods ensuring that requirements are met associated with quality assurance plan.
  • Ensuring documentation is current for correct and safe work practices, Quality Assurance processes and company-wide directives.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • At minimum, a Bachelors (Honours) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
    • Education in health physics, radiation physics or related field is considered as asset.
  • Experience
    • A few years of related scientific or technical experience, or higher education than the minimum qualifications for the position.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Strong communication skills both oral and written with particular focus on scientific reports and presentations.
    • Organizational skills, project management, and coordination of multiple contributors.
    • Aptitude in applying predictive models to determine the depletion of hazardous material (radioactive) and the resulting estimate of dose based on measurement of samples.
    • Comfortable with probability and statistics as it pertains to error propagation based on known distribution of random variables.

  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."

Location:

This role is a fully onsite role that requires the employee to primarily work at CNL's Chalk River Laboratory site, with only occasional opportunities to work remotely, if desired by the employee.
