Full Job Description
About The Team
Anduril's Space team is at the forefront of advancing national security capabilities in the space domain. Our mission is twofold: 1) develop autonomous satellite systems and space-based platforms, and 2) deliver critical ground and orbital software infrastructure at scale. We transform products and capabilities across space command and control (C2), mission management, and space operations from early concepts into fully operational systems by partnering closely with specialist engineering, operations, and production teams. Through our integrated approach, we design and deploy space software systems using advanced algorithms, distributed architectures, and resilient infrastructure-delivering reliable, mission-critical capabilities that support operators across orbital and ground-based assets. Space Systems hires software engineers and systems engineers who are excited to build across a diverse and powerful portfolio-from satellite operations software to space domain awareness platforms. Our teams contribute to highly capable autonomous space systems and ground software products that operate reliably in the most demanding mission environments, supporting the DOD and IC in defending our national interests in space.

About The Job
We are seeking an exceptional Head of Radar to lead one of our most strategic space programs. This is a senior leadership position that combines deep technical expertise in space-based radar systems with executive-level program management and stakeholder engagement. You will own the complete lifecycle of our space radar product portfolio, from architecture and innovation through to on-orbit delivery, while leading cross-functional teams and building critical partnerships across the space and defense ecosystem.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Technical Ownership: Drive radar architecture and product development strategies through understanding of technical tradeoffs, requirements and opportunities for innovation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, customer stakeholders, and industry partners to gather insights, align objectives, and secure buy-in for the radar product you are responsible for
  • Product Strategy: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define a product strategy that will win in the marketplace by delivering differentiated value to our customers. Define the product development roadmap and communicate the how and why behind it.
  • Tactical Execution: Organize and prioritize the engineering efforts required to bring the product to market, working with functional engineering teams and other product owners to optimize resource utilization. Lead tactical execution of prototyping, development, and operational delivery of the product.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and scale a world-class radar engineering organization. Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and rapid iteration suited for the modern space industry.
  • Program Management: Oversee budget, schedule, and resource allocation for this high-stakes space program. Identify and mitigate technical and programmatic risks across the entire mission lifecycle.
  • Space Systems Integration: Ensure radar payload integration with spacecraft bus, ground systems, and mission operations. Navigate the unique constraints of space environments including power, mass, thermal, and radiation considerations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Masters or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical field (advanced degree preferred). Bachelors will be considered with exceptional experience.
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in radar systems engineering, including hardware, algorithms, or software development
  • Proven track record developing and delivering high-performance defense or space-based radar systems from concept through production/deployment
  • Strong expertise in radar architecture, waveform design, radar modes (SAR, GMTI, MTI, etc.), and system-level modeling
  • Deep understanding of radar fundamentals: signal processing, detection theory, clutter mitigation, and performance analysis
  • Understanding of radar antenna development, technology, and integration
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for radar simulation and analysis
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams (15+ engineers) across hardware, software, and algorithms
  • Track record managing large-scale programs with demonstrated success delivering on schedule and budget
  • Ability to make strategic technical decisions and manage trade-offs between performance, cost, schedule, and risk
  • Active U.S. Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with space-based RF sensing systems, including satellite payload design, orbital mechanics considerations, and space environmental effects (radiation, thermal, plasma) on radar performance
  • Strong track record managing executive-level relationships with government customers, including program reviews and strategic planning sessions
  • Experience with spacecraft operations, mission design, launch campaigns, and on-orbit commissioning/operations
  • Hands-on experience with real-time embedded systems, signal processing architectures, or space software standards (e.g., cFS, SpaceVPX) and modular payload architectures
  • Track record of driving technical innovation and new capability development, including patents, publications, or industry recognition
  • Experience as a program manager or technical lead on large multi-party space development programs, coordinating with prime contractors, subcontractors, and mission partners
