Why we're looking for you

We are excited to hire our first-ever Global Compensation leader to shape and scale our compensation and equity programs to increase our talent density at Owner.

Reporting into the VP of People, you'll partner with Finance, Talent, and other senior leaders to create, implement, and administer compensation programs that attract, retain, and reward exceptional talent across our global team. Compensation includes both cash compensation and equity: your role is to ensure both remain competitive, scalable, and aligned with our business objectives.

This is a unique opportunity to build and mature compensation infrastructure at a high-growth company. You'll combine analytical rigor with business acumen to inform compensation approaches, allow the business to operate more efficiently and equitably with offers and merit cycles, and help leaders make informed talent investments. You'll also help team members understand and maximize the value of their total compensation.

Owner is a global, remote-first company: the majority of our teammates are distributed across North and South America. For this role, you can live anywhere in the United States or Canada.

The impact you will have
  • Compensation:
    • Own and evolve Owner's total compensation philosophy, frameworks, and programs to support business growth and talent objectives.
    • Design, administer, and continuously improve compensation programs, including salary structures, job architecture, career levels, incentive plans, and compensation policies, across multiple countries - US, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, and others.
    • Lead market benchmarking and compensation analysis to ensure competitive pay practices across global markets.
    • Partner with Finance and business leaders to develop compensation recommendations that balance market competitiveness, internal equity, and budget considerations.
    • Lead annual compensation planning processes, including merit cycles, promotions, market adjustments, and compensation budgeting.
    • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compensation practices comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Equity:
    • Design and implement a competitive equity strategy and policies across countries and roles
    • Maintain accurate records of grants, vesting schedules, exercises, and equity holdings while ensuring data integrity across systems.
    • Develop educational resources and communications that help team members understand the value of equity and ownership at the company.
    • Prep materials for and make recommendations to the Compensation Committee

You'll be set up for success if you have:
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in compensation or total rewards supporting global organizations, preferably in a start-up environment.
  • Deep expertise in compensation program design and administration, including salary structures, job architecture, leveling frameworks, market benchmarking, and annual compensation cycles.
  • Experience managing equity compensation programs, including grant administration, reporting, and employee education.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations and influence decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience building and scaling compensation programs in high-growth or fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational,and problem solving skills with an acute eye for detail.
  • Thrived in dynamic, fast-paced startup environments with the agility and enthusiasm to adapt quickly, tackle diverse challenges, and contribute effectively to a high-energy team.
  • Experience with HR tech stack and equity administration platforms; preferably Rippling, Remote, and Carta.


Pay and benefits
  • This role's estimated base salary range is $230k- $260k USD / $240k - $270k CAD, plus a generous pre-IPO equity package.
