Full Job Description

Maximo is an AI-enabled field robotics venture incubated within The AES Corporation, built to transform how utility scale solar projects are constructed. By deploying a fleet of intelligent robots in the field, Maximo is redefining installation speed, safety, and delivery certainty at a time when time to power is critical. Our technology combines robotics, AI-based vision, and advanced systems to bring physical intelligence to real world construction environments, enabling solar projects to be delivered faster and more predictably at scale.

As Maximo’s Head of Finance you will be required to manage both strategic and tactical elements of Maximo’s financial operations. This includes capital planning and investor relations (including with Maximo’s largest shareholder, the AES Corporation), debt (to include fleet and asset financing) and equity fundraising. The Head of Finance will also lead FP&A and cash management processes to include short and long term forecasting, management reporting, and commercial finance, and work closely with the AES Corp team for accounting and tax support.

Key stakeholders include:

  • Maximo’s CEO
  • The rest of Maximo’s senior leadership team (COO, CCO, CTO, etc.)
  • Representatives from AES Corp
  • Future investors who ultimately join the Maximo board of directors

Key First-Year Deliverables include:

  • Establishing reliable processes for active forecasting and management reporting, to include active cash management that can scale with growth and a Maximo finance team
  • Refresh the Maximo capital plan
  • Participating in closing Maximo’s next fundraising round with its first non-AES/outside investors
  • Develop unit economics and commercial decision support processes

Key responsibilities

The Head of Finance will be the senior finance leader for Maximo and will report to the CEO. The role will lead the development of financial recommendations, establish finance processes and standards, and drive execution of approved plans. The Head of Finance will work closely with the Maximo leadership team and relevant AES corporate functions, including treasury, accounting, tax, legal, and procurement.

Lead the development and execution of Maximo’s capital plan in partnership with the CEO, Maximo leadership team, board and applicable AES stakeholders. Own the financial analysis, models, materials, diligence process and day-to-day coordination of financing activities.

Identify and quantify cost and margin opportunities, establish financial targets, and partner with operational leaders to implement and track improvement initiatives.

Define Maximo’s finance systems and process roadmap and lead implementation, leveraging AES platforms and shared services where appropriate.

This is a highly hands-on role. Initially, the Head of Finance will personally perform significant modeling, forecasting, reporting and transaction work while building the team and infrastructure required to support scale.

Qualifications:

  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop and implement financial strategies in line with business goals.
  • Problem Solver: Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with financial tools and software, and the ability to set up financial systems in a startup environment.
  • Leadership: Ability to grow and lead the finance team as the company scales.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. An MBA, CFA, or CPA is a plus.

Personal Attributes:

  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Detail-Oriented: Keen attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Collaborative: Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments and advise the executive team.
  • Adaptable: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to pivot as the business evolves.
