Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Athletics & Recreation- Compliance, the Head Men's and Women's Swim Coach is responsible for the total organization, administration and supervision of the swim program, recruitment of student athletes and for assisting with internal operations of the athletic department including game day supervision. The coach is responsible for ensuring compliance with all university, conference and NCAA policies and procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and prepare for all practices and contests.
  • Recruit student-athletes.
  • Assist student-athletes in obtaining appropriate academic support services and athletic training care as necessary
  • Prepare budget recommendations for the program. Monitor budgets, revenues and expenditures.
  • Monitor equipment and facility needs, safety standards and inventory control.
  • Organize and administer a comprehensive fundraising program and an alumni development plan.
  • Oversee the selection and supervision of part-time coaches and student employees.
  • Assist in coordinating all swim activities at the university, including camps, clinics, field rentals.
  • Maintain appropriate records and files. Prepare correspondence in the course of official duties.
  • Archive and dispose of records and documents in accordance with State of NJ requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with NJAC and NCAA regulations and by-laws in the implementation of recruiting and competitive play activities across all sport teams.
  • Coordinate transfer eligibility for all incoming transfers. Participate in team eligibility meetings; oversee eligibility appeals.
  • Coordinate and manage team rosters and confirmation of participation forms.
  • Attend and participate in departmental, conference and university-wide meetings related to duties and responsibilities.
  • Serve on departmental and/or university, conference, regional and national committees as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.


QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of three years of professional work experience coaching student athletes at the collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; particularly as they apply to swimming, recruiting and student athlete eligibility.
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule, including evenings, weekends and occasional holidays.


PREFERRED:
  • Professional work experience in higher education as a head coach.
  • Experience as a college student athlete.
  • Masters Degree

Salary Range
$76,486.40-$87,954.55 Annually
