Full Job Description
Mask Release (Product Engineer) & Design Automation:
Be part of a dynamic and skilled IBM Research team developing test chips for the world's most advanced semiconductor technologies. This is a cross-functional position to execute reticle deliveries for IBM Research test chip development vehicles and support automation infrastructure for chip assembly and mask release activities. In this role you will work with process, design and mask house teams to define all requirements required to execute on time reticle delivery to support tape-out schedules. Design data may require manipulation through creation and execution of automated scripts. There is a strong emphasis on organization and documentation used for reticle ordering and data traceability.

Job Duties:
Prepare reticle order for submission to external mask house using internal automated tools to post process design data prior to submission to a maskhouse. Transmit data to the maskhouse. Document transactions in databases for historical records of mask order.

Prepare reticle order documentation including mask order forms to support multiple lithographic exposure tools.

Coordinate cross-functional meetings with design, process and enablement stakeholders to validate and review reticle data prior to mask house submission. In addition, coordinate meetings with stakeholders to review MEBES fractured data prior to reticle fabrication.

Develop and support automation scripts (Python) to support and enhance test chip tape-out infrastructure and workflows, focusing on photomask release and test chip design assembly.

Support test chip design assembly from provided design layouts through automation.

Debug and solve problems in a team environment. Troubleshoot layout data and automation issues in collaboration with infrastructure and design enablement teams.

Basic Skills:
• Knowledge of Linux operating systems
• Experience using EDA tool for viewing design layout data (i.e. Synopsys ICVWB, Cadence Virtuoso or similar).
• Experience using MEBES Job deck data viewing platform
• Coding experience with scripting languages (Python, Unix/Linux Shell), at least 2 years.
• Basic understanding of semiconductor design physical layout, technology ground rules, and semiconductor processing.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving abilities in a collaborative environment.
• Fluent English (both verbal and written) and strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with lithographic and reticle manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience in mask tape-out operations and logistics, including mask data preparation, in-line metrology, OPC and reticle frame building.
• Experience developing and deploying automation solutions using Python, especially in the context of chip design and tape out activities.
