About the Role:
This position will support an established Missile Defense program as a senior-level Guidance, Navigation & Controls (GNC) engineer.
As part of this highly-skilled team, you will be responsible for making strategic technical decisions and working with leadership and junior engineers to deliver results. Demonstrated experience with GNC and Flight Software modeling, architectures and deployment in missile applications is highly desired. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral, are essential.
Successful applicants will generally possess at least 3+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline.
Basic Qualifications
Skill Requirements:
• Experience with software, simulation and programming tools (ex. MATLAB/Simulink, Fortran, C++, Python etc.)
• Proven experience in the design, integration, qualification, verification, or validation of GNC algorithms.
• Ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams by leveraging excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize schedules and tasking to accomplish multiple goals in a fixed time period
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative team environment
Security Clearance / Work Authorization:
• To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
• Although not required to start, the selected applicant must be eligible to obtain, and maintain, a government issued Secret clearance for long term employment on this program
Desired skills
• Knowledge/experience with GN&C control theory and physical modeling related to spacecraft and/or missile systems
• Ability to coordinate integration activities across a team that performs missile GN&C design and analysis tasks
• Demonstrated experience with missile simulation and tool development, maintenance and use for performance analysis. Strong understanding of modeling principles.
• Experience in weapon system and/or sensor modeling.
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors and customers.
• Experience evaluating system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
• Project leadership and/or leadership of small teams of junior engineers.
• Active Secret clearance

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $101,000 - $178,135. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $116,200 - $201,365. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
