The Opportunity:

Our client is seeking a Mine Engineering Technician (Ground Control) to join their Engineering team at a world-class underground mining operation in Goderich, Ontario.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically driven mining professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment where safety, innovation, and operational excellence are top priorities. Reporting to the Ground Control Engineer, the successful candidate will play a critical role in monitoring ground conditions, supporting rock mechanics programs, conducting underground inspections, and assisting with mine planning and engineering initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation, a passion for underground mining operations, and a desire to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of one of North America's premier mining facilities.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Support ground control and rock mechanics programs within the underground mining operation.
  • Install, maintain, and monitor rock mechanics instrumentation in underground excavations.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on data gathered from underground monitoring systems.
  • Conduct inspections of underground excavations and assist in developing rehabilitation plans.
  • Complete geological mapping of underground openings and excavations.
  • Perform 3D scanning of underground and surface areas for volume calculations and detailed measurements.
  • Collect and analyze Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey data and present findings to engineering and operations teams.
  • Participate in mine-wide ventilation surveys, identify issues, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct monthly audits of underground ground conditions, roof and wall stability, and ground support systems.
  • Maintain engineering drawings, records, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment and instrumentation installation with mine operations personnel.
  • Assist with mine planning, scheduling, drafting, and engineering projects as required.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative ground control techniques.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional engineering and technical duties as required.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:

Compensation Range: $90,000- $95,000
