Job Summary:

The individual hired for this position will work as part of an engineering team designing, developing, and collaborating with machine design teams on the development of advanced CAT Grade integration strategies for machines. Focus is on development and implementation of CAT Grade software and hardware architecture, and development of performance and ease of use features. Your contributions will include developing solutions which can be integrated into the existing as well as the latest electronic architectures on Caterpillar machines.

What You Will Do:

  • Gather machine level CAT Grade integration requirements and use cases.
  • Design CAT Grade integration differentiating features supporting technology strategies.
  • Support the integration of CAT Grade systems and components into new and existing machine designs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration between the various machine product groups, system, and software teams.
  • Create the supporting documentation required for machine teams to integrate CAT Grade into machine designs.
  • Coordination of feature validation activities.

  • Technology Advising: Knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services and solutions for a specific technology domain.
  • Conceptual Thinking: Knowledge of thinking and reasoning at a conceptual level; ability to identify the critical ideas and interdependencies among system elements that impact performance.
  • Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.
  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project
  • Product Development in Manufacturing: Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques of product development; ability to design, build and manage manufacturing of new products.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

  • Four-year engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with electronically controlled mechanical systems
  • Experience with Grade Control systems
  • Familiarity with electrical and electronic components along with their function in electrical systems
  • Familiarity with software development
  • Knowledge with Datalinks such as CAN and Ethernet
  • Experience improving machine ease of use
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, communicating technical information across departments and business units while driving design activities with a minimum of supervision.


Additional Details:

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time onsite at the Mossville, IL office.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

  • 10% travel is required for this role

 

Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
