What does a successful Government Technical Consultant do?As a Government Technical Lead, you partner directly with the Government Technical Director to support the technical delivery, stability, and evolution of a mission-critical government technology program. This role provides consistent technical leadership across both steady-state operations and concurrent implementation efforts, maintaining continuity as the platform scales and evolves.
You work across engineering, architecture, security, and operations teams to resolve issues, support service performance, and advance delivery milestones. The role includes regular interaction with internal teams and client stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear business-focused updates and recommendations for audiences with varying technical background.
What you'll do:- Support technical service delivery and platform performance across production operations and active implementations within the same program
- Partner with the Technical Director to monitor SLAs, service performance metrics, and incident trends, using data to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Participate in incident response for 24x7 systems, including impact assessment, root cause analysis, and coordination of cross-functional resolution efforts
- Coordinate across product, engineering, and third-party teams to execute technical priorities and resolve issues impacting delivery and production stability
- Serve as a secondary technical point of contact for the account, communicating risks, issues, and recommended actions to internal teams and client stakeholders, and translating complex technical information for diverse technical and non-technical audiences
Experience you'll need to have:- 5+ years of experience supporting IT delivery and operations for enterprise-scale platforms in regulated environments
- Hands-on experience supporting concurrent production operations and implementation efforts, including reviewing and interpreting detailed program requirements, contracts, and Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Experience participating in incident and problem management for 24x7 systems, including root cause analysis and resolution tracking
- Working knowledge of APIs, integrations, networking, and information security controls in a multi-system environment
- Experience using service performance data (e.g., incidents, SLAs, trends) to identify issues and support resolution in a production environment
Experience that would be great to have:- Experience supporting government technology programs or payment/transaction systems
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP) and cloud environments such as AWS or Azure
- Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman) for querying, validating, and troubleshooting data integrations
- Exposure to modern architecture patterns (microservices, event-driven) and observability practices
How you'll work:This is a remote-based role that includes regular collaboration with internal teams and client stakeholders, with occasional onsite engagement as needed.
